Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-19-ATCEXP-63736

I just got a quote for them from SoCal to Montana for $3500 for just a truck. TF
what size truck? I was originally quoted 2400 but I was able to drop off in a location 50 miles away for a huge discount. I also hit up uhaul and several other companies. I would ask about different cities for pick up and drop off(within driving distance) as well as military and any other discounts. I told them my target price (under 1500) and they found a way to make it work.

Got my FOL.

Look into PODS. I drove a 20' truck from Oklahoma to Georgia while towing my car and it sucked. Using PODS this time around and the cost to send from GA to MN is less than $2500. Smaller container than the truck, but that is ok because we downsized our stuff anyways. That plus driving a truck really sucked for me and I would rather pay more to save me the stress.

Im doing a military pcs so i was trying to get the best return on investment, if not i would have done the pods as well.

Off topic, did ya'll get notification that your MMPI was cleared? Cant get a hold of my HR rep and i havent heard any update on my MMPI. Medical and Security is cleared. I'm sure i would of heard from someone if something threw a red flag, so i do i just assume it was cleared?

MMPI is a part of your medical. If you're medical has cleared you're fine.

Check out Upack. They have pods, well “cubes”. I’ve used them the last two moves and both times were much cheaper than PODS. They also have a military discount.

I looked into it, but their boxes are so stinking small! I would need at least 5 units to fit all my stuff. Plus they do not seem very sturdy. Pods are made our of steel. Uboxes and their plywood are difficult for me to trust....

The MMPI is part of your medical. If you cleared medical, your MMPI was fine

Hmm, I have no idea where you read they are made of plywood. I’ve used them twice and they are solid, definitely some type of metal. Didn’t have a single broken item. You would be amazed how much fits inside when packed right. All good though, good luck with the move!

This is from the Uhaul website: "U-Box storage and moving containers are made exclusively for U-Haul. Each U-Box container is made of premium, pest-resistant plywood, which provides your belongings with a stable and chemical free environment for storage and transit. This is especially important if you have wooden furniture. Our U-Box containers breathe much better than steel containers reducing the chance for mold and mildew. Each container is also covered with a highly durable, weather-resistant cover when delivered. "

Glad it worked out well for you though. In the end that is all that matters. I was worried about trying to fit our king size mattress in one lol

Ahh, I see the disconnect. I didn't use Uhaul. The company I used is called "Upack". They are owned by ABF Freight. The boxes are a bit bigger and made of some type of metal, I would assume steel. We fit out queen size set no problem. The video in the link below shows them packing one with stuff including a king size mattress. I hear ya though. Moving is a pain in the ass. The convenience of them transporting everything is great though. Hopefully my comment helps somebody in the future.
