TSA trainees maybe....I haven’t seen the airlines pull planes out of storage yet. Looks like the middle seat won’t be blocked off like they wanted....

Delta is adding flights because they’ve capped all flights at 60% capacity. They’re not running any plane near full utilization so there’s no need to pull any extra. But it won’t be any meaningful increase as far as we’re concerned.

All the airlines are adding flights for June. And American is pulling planes out of storage.

Going to be more passengers for the next week due to Memorial Day weekend. Once that is over, numbers will drop again because people will be bitching about the processes in place for the COVID19.

Totally unknown if it will drop again. It’s still summer. The largest segment flying right now is 20-30 year olds.

I think you’re delusional if you think we would remain on this schedule even if traffic miraculously came back while social distancing is still a thing. The only reason we’re on this schedule is because of the combination of low traffic and social distancing. If one or the other went away, we’d be moving towards normal schedules. Many facilities are already moving from 5/10 to 5/5 due to traffic. Don’t forget we have a job we’re expected to do. Plenty of people out there still going to work every day. OJT may be a different story.

This is for sure an increase. The question is how much. The July schedules haven’t been cut back nearly as much yet.

Nope, I'm not. If trainees are not brought back soon, they're going to get furloughed. Nobody has any incentive to bring them back to work.

The don't bother training them comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but it's obviously the mentality of NATCA, the FAA, and most certified essential controllers. Period.

Unless there’s a major shift in the other direction, there’s no reason trainees cannot be brought back into the buildings on the 15th and at least start warming up in the labs.

Sure there is. NATCA doesn't want you back, and that's the only reason that matters. The heck with long term staffing, the heck with upcoming retirements, if these trainees can't certify on pre-covid traffic which they won't see for years, furlough them!

Things are improving both with traffic and COVID. Anyone who denies that at this point is either delusional, or selfish wanting to milk the reduced staffing schedules as long as possible.

I’m itching to get back to training too. But bringing trainees back into the building to do labs is bringing in a lot more people into the building than just trainees. That’s like adding 100 bodies into the facility. I don’t think they’re going to rush us back to risk having a jump in cases. Just enjoy your time off in the meantime and hope they keep paying us.

My point is traffic, whether actual or “possible” is already affecting this schedule. So this idea that traffic has no bearing, only social distancing is completely false.

I think airlines will be trying to consolidate to as few of flights as possible as passengers increase but as I said in another post the upward trend has to begin somewhere

Delta will not do this. They have maintained that they’ll fly 60% full and add aircraft as necessary in order to keep flights at around that percentage. They’re not going to jam ppl on at least Delta will not for the foreseeable future which as ppl come back the flights will increase. That’s straight from DAL CEO on their website.

We are going to it due to traffic. Leave plays in, but it’s due to the increased volume being fed in vs a month ago.

I’d love to see what the social distancing warriors are doing with their time off.

Probably standing next to me in line with their mask on touching everything at the counter then wearing their mask in the car on the way home.

What amounts to the “fuck trainees” attitude from some people on this site is getting old. I’m sure you would feel way differently if you were in your first or second year of training, making 1/3 of CPC pay, while having at least a 3+ month delay on top of the already slow training process. It’s also pretty funny that a lot of the people throwing out the “YoU sHoUlD bE gRaTeFuL tO bE sItTiNg At HoMe GeTtInG pAiD, yOuRe LuCkY yOuRe NoT gEtTiNg FuRlOuGhEd” lines are the same people bitching about not getting hazard pay.
