Training hold

I’m honestly starting to wonder if NATCA may actually be fighting AGAINST bringing trainees back at this point. The facts are, traffic has been trending up, and coronavirus has been trending down for over a month. Every state has reopened, and many of them are virtually back to normal except for concerts and sports. Every non-FAA friend of mine has gone back to work. There is realistically no reason why training still needs to be completely halted across the board for the entire country.

IMO, what it boils down to now is the reduced staffing situation. Given how many facilities had been on mandatory OT for months, or even years, getting 5 on 10 off and even 5/5 schedules approved was a huge win for NATCA. I’m sure they got plenty of pats on the back. I know the CPCs I’ve talked to absolutely love it. I think NATCA has decided their objective is to push to keep this new scheduling setup for as long as possible. Obviously, the second you say things are “back to normal” enough to bring trainees back, you’re going to have to transition back to normal scheduling. Thus the solution is to push for training to be halted as long as possible and keep developmentals out of the building. It’s really the only explanation that makes sense at this point. And it also explains the “we know nothing” answer that’s given whenever a trainee asks for an update. Obviously they’re not going to say we’re fighting to keep you at home.

Having a union say that your non essential is like the most retarded idea in the history of unions.

here’s an easy test to find out if you’re essential:

Are you current, medically qualified, and certified to talk to airplanes ? If yes, you’re essential, if no, you’re not essential.
I don’t agree with NATCA at all on this - but I don’t know what else to call someone who is literally useless to their employer.

This is a short term win for fucking themselves in the future- facilities will be even worse off and understaffed in the future. Traffic is eventually going to reach 90% (if not 100%) of what it was. But hey not everyone is a 4-D chess grandmaster so you might be right.

Just have all the trainees call everyday asking for a status update until they break. Leadership, your reps, the decision makers, even 5 calls (roughly 2 minutes) daily per person (leave a voicemail if they don't respond) will eventually make them break. Email them daily, email their secretaries, ask them until they give up anything.

After they do that, wait a day, then do it again until you have the answers you want.

this Is accurate. Combined with the fact that the feds don’t do anything fast.

nobody is suggesting this. They just want something more than 2 emails in a 3 month time span. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for especially since they pay dues and obviously someone knows something and NATCA refuses to reveal any info.

I think you misread my post.
If someone is doing something that affects your livelihood, do you:

A: Do nothing (I don't think your NATCA rep is involved in the high-level decisions)
B: Escalate the situation until they take action?

Yes, you want more than 2 emails in a 3 month time span.
Do you think doing nothing or doing something will get you there?

That’s for the faa to say. Not the LABOR UNION REPRESENTING YOU. I guess the thousands of clearances I’ve given to towers weren’t essential. Idk, guess I couldn’t have a deal if I put him through an arrival

yes this. It’s really zero emails unless you count the little snippet of training suspended 30
More days written as a positive thing.

What’s the rush to get trainees back in the building if there’s no training AND no contractors to conduct training?? Just wanna go to work and sit there and get paid the same as if you were home....I don’t get it
Nobody is saying everything needs to go back to normal tomorrow, but SOMETHING should be happening. Bring back a few of the more senior trainees and a few contractors and start running some lab problems. Put them on reduced schedules if you have to. Start with only facilities in areas with the lowest coronavirus cases. Phase things back in like the rest of the world has been doing.

This one size fits all, national directive saying all training has to be halted and every trainee banned from the buildings UFA is absolutely ridiculous. The response is making it seem like they want coronavirus to be eradicated and traffic back to 100% of what it was before they even want to think about bringing people back.

Cpcs can train. Y’all working 5/5 ???

I really would like to get back to work but what's gonna end up happening is I get all excited to go back and I just end up sitting around for another month while the training dept unfucks themselves and then there's a spike and poof we are gone again.
I just don’t want to be sitting at home doing nothing when Moscow Mitch comes looking for cuts. I heard he has inside information on the DOT.

I'm with ya, look busy when the boss shows up is what I told the fellas at my old job.

Yeah, both of them are mentally retarded.
That’s basically one of the most offensive words in the English language right now, psychological and medical journals have been updated to use alternative phrases for it and it entails immediate disciplinary action when kids are caught using it in the school yard. Your words expressed display the true hate in your heart.
