Training hold

guaruntee if this happens suddenly MOST of the "high risk" people wont be high risk anymore!

Not entirely sure what you're driving at here... but if you're saying what I think you're saying, the moment NATCA decides furloughs for people at home, the high risk people will suddenly decide they are not high risk and volunteer to return to duty.

If that's what you're saying, then you forgot one element... as of this week, most high-riskers are lapsing into 120 days, and if they haven't returned to keep currency, they too will be classified as trainees, and won't have the option to return.

Management has said they extended the 120 day currency crap into October. We also recalled high risk individuals already lol.

Wonder what that process was. Called the Flight Surgeon and Flight Surgeon told at risk people too bad so sad?

I'm opting to follow the contract when it comes to 120 days. It might only take 5-15 hours per position, but I know I've forgotten too much to call a 30 minute OTS session of COVID traffic a proper refresher.

Back to the lab for you stage 1

yeah good point. Better wait until 2025 when traffic is back up to “normal”... just to be on the safe side ya know

Let’s stop pretending it’s about traffic. We’re around 70% and increasing every week. Much higher if you account for the surge in VFR aircraft. There’s no reason why there isn’t training if we’re at 70%+ and back on a normal BWS. So what’s the holdup

so what’s the excuse? Not traffic. And being back on BWS doesn’t really hold up to needing to socially distance either.

The union isn’t even having people wear there mask or trying to get them to do the right thing on their day off. And this threads locked
Every facility is federal workplace and there is no federal mask mandate. So no one can be forced to wear a mask at work, right now. Personally I've been given four different masks at work... What more do you want them to do? Send a daily email asking people to wear a mask?

And other than tell me to stop drinking 8 hours before my shift Natca cannot regulate what I do outside of work hours.

I was being sarcastic. In all seriousness, the obvious answer is that NATCA wants to stay on 5/10 or 5/5 for the indefinite future, and bringing trainees into the building seemingly screws up that plan so it's easier to say "traffic."

I’m normally here to antagonize you entitled trainees (sarcasm) but I honestly think you poor bastards are fucked. I asked my FLM why they scheduled trainees only to remove them a few days later. He said “they were supposed to come back but not anymore.” I asked what the hell is the roadblock and he mentioned “liability concerns.” Take that with a grain of salt, this is a supervisor after all. He could be talking out his ass for all I know.

Conversation with my VP and he shared my sentiment, “those poor bastards are fucked and National is giving zero guidance.” There seems to be an unwillingness to communicate between the numerous layers of gov’t bureaucracy. This is all the hearsay I have but all indications are pointing to an endless holding pattern.

NATCA May want to stay on a reduced schedule to prevent facilities from having to shut down due to Covid. There are some facilities back to normal, including mine (ZDV). We could have an outbreak that knocks out a bunch of people or power through just fine. Maybe those 5/2 facilities will be the blueprint for what’s to come.
