Ya I really don't get the Cali hate from the political standpoint of "its not nice because the libs"....
Yes housing is expensive..... It's a desirable place to live. Thats basic economics.
Yes there's lots of homeless people. Man, if I was living rough I'd certainly want to do it in a place where it wasn't super cold in winter or blazing hot in summer. Another no brainer.
Ya the taxes are higher, but you could argue they provide better services for their citizens (which they have more of) than places with lower tax rates. I live in one of those places. I wish my state would raise taxes a bit so we had better schools and infrastructure.
Now you want to make the argument for asinine gun laws and over the top PC culture nonsense, ya I'll buy that along with a pack of kale chips and some avocado toast.
Sounds like unemployment benefits and aid to state/local governments were the biggest ones. Dems wanted to extend the $600/per week additional unemployment until the end of the year, Repubs wanted to cut it to like $300-400/per week.
The part that’s really stupid though is that pretty much EVERYONE agreed on sending another round of stimulus checks out, and most wanted to match the first $1200/per person payment. If that was agreed upon by all sides, why not at least pass a bill for that? That’d be better than doing absolutely nothing.
Because the second they just send out stimulus money they get to wash thier hands of the rest of it, when the rest of it is the more important part for a lot of Americans.
Plus, both parties and the president want to be able to say "they made this happen and the other guy is bad" just a few short months prior to the election. That's the whole point of Trumps big EO announcement yesterday (if it's even legal for him to do so, which is dubious).
It's all politics and we are all pawns, especially the more at risk unemployed people on the verge of losing everything right now.
