Training hold

This isn’t a center vs. TRACON fight. Through all of our trivial arguments, apparently lots of us can all agree that we don’t like entitled trainees who think they should be checked out and someone else should work it if it gets busy.
Yet you all expect trainees to be hungry and fight to train. Interesting duality there. Be confident and motivated but if you’re confident in your abilities you’re entitled. Do you seriously think someone should train with the attitude of thinking they shouldn’t check out?

No one here wants to skip traffic. But if are so concerned about traffic levels then they could do additional fam training in the future. Like we do once a year anyways.

Dude. He literally said you should page someone back if it gets busy. He just needs money. Oh and he’s had plenty of times where his trainers just don’t know the rules as well as he does. Superstar.

I’m just speaking on a general level since you referenced trainees on a general level

But then how can he self-quarantine on his days off to ensure he doesn't infect his crew on 5/5 when he comes back to work? Your arguments and claims about this being about "safety" just went out the window with that comment.
You guys are complaining about money and most of you are sitting at home doing nothing except getting on Point 65... Go get a job, if you need the money. The overwhelming number of trainees working AREN'T CURRENTLY NEEDED. They should be at home. Then, you can go get a job and quarantine yourself when it is time to go back to work. Sounds good? Yep...

I’d love to be sitting at home enjoying family time like the other trainees if there’s not going to be any update

I hope those times never come back... Couple that with IWR and the work environment will be drastically different.

I'm just curious, would you say you represent a majority of controllers at A80 with your attitude? If so, the culture there probably already sucks anyways, so IWR really wouldn't be that much worse for the trainees.

What attitude do I have? I expect trainees to know the material they can control (SOP, LOAs, airspace, etc.), be receptive to training, be ready to train and learn from their mistakes, be willing to train during abnormal conditions (emergencies, weather, etc.), and ask questions when you don’t understand something. That’s not much to ask. You get what you’re willing to put in. I’m a realist and will call people out for their BS. You want to screw over a coworker, that is completely unacceptable to me. You want to skip a position because you don’t want to work the traffic you’re paid to? Again, completely unacceptable. We probably have one of the best work environments in the NAS. We work hard and expect the best effort out of ourselves and others. Don’t take my word for it, transfer down from Poughkeepsie (don’t worry NCEPT will let you) and see for yourself.

But the trainees that want to train and are frustrated by a 6-infinite long training delay are entitled

See, I don't disagree with any of this. But it's not the attitude I was referring to. None of this has anything at all to do with the training hold. You're dodging what you know I'm getting at, but whatever. I just would never want to work with someone like you who doesn't give a crap about those who have to replace the almighty CPCs someday.
