Finland seemed to do pretty well against the Russians all on their own about 80 years ago, what with thier highest rate of private gun ownership in Europe.

I don't see feeding the military industrial complex as a valid excuse to not take care of American citizens.
I'm not saying its an excuse not to take care of our citizens, im saying its a far more in depth conversation when we have countries aggressively expanding their territories through hostile land grabs(or sea grabs in chinas case). We ether stay poised to defend europe and asia and take a hit in our budget or let them attempt to defend against these super powers and risk world war 3 breaking out.

I mean....25% of our budget goes toward the military, 25% to social security, and 25% to medicare/Medicaid currently (more or less)

If we dont already have the money to do the socialism thing currently, where do you propose we get it from? (Serious question)

Tbh if you told me we could feed everyone in the country and all we had to do was not invade the middle east, I'd be somewhat ok with it. But that ain't gonna happen and I ain't about paying $10k more in taxes every year.

Hitting 100,000 cases of the COVID-19 today boys, America just does it better than anyone else tbh.

Simo Hayah did wonders against the Germans.

We really should at the very least get rid of over seas bases. Complete overkill and that would save us a ridiculous amount of money right there.

We need more of the total wealth sent downwards here. Private Business proves time and time again they just hoard if you let them. They can still be succesfull but they don’t need billions and billions and billions

We didn’t have nukes then. As soon as we got them the war with Japan ended. Same would have happened with Germany. Things are wildly different now.
Germany was incredibly close to having nuclear weapons, if we hadn't joined when we did europe would have been lost, thats an indisputable fact. Having nuclear weapons means these days only means a potential nuclear winter if things go bad, No one will risk being the first to escalate.

Yea. No one is running a ground invasion now knowing we can delete them. That’s my point.

Why do we have to be the world's police? Why can't the entire developed world be the world police? I can't speak to China, but Russia is a paper tiger in terms of military might. They aren't what they once were. That's left over red scare cold war talk, and the reason why they resort to dirty tricks these days. They can't handle a real big time incursion against western powers in the EU.

The power struggle in Ukraine is a long boiling regional thing going far back before the ussr, and the area they grabbed (Crimea) was a part of Russia proper for hundreds of years prior to the breakup of the soviet union. Most people there are happy to be back under the Russian flag, always considered themselves Russian, and by all accounts are better off for it. I've been. It's actually a very nice and peaceful place. That area is wholly different than what's going on in say donbass where they are pumping in guerrillas to fight the Ukrainians, because again, a proxy war or "security presence" a la Syria is about all they can muster these days.

That said.... How they went about regaining control of it was super sketch, but if I was in Norway I wouldn't be quaking in my boots that was about to happen to me.

So lets just say china grabs up Taiwan and the phillipine islands, how long do we wait until we intervene? Until the cut off trade to the entire west coast? Until austrailia is officially part of china? Unfortunately the rest of the world is to busy funding other dumb stuff to worry about their own military. I want to cut the budget, but I dont want to spend 10 times what we cut in WW3 because we decided to get sloppy on foreign policy concerning communist dictators.

I support a semi-isolationist stance, most the retards worldwide readily criticize the U.S. but don't realize the U.S. taxpayer funds the majority of their defense. Russia is broken (See the Armenian-Azberjan conflict blowing up) and China has a very limited capacity both in equipment and capability, they're near-peer at their absolute best. Everytime some snarky European balks at U.S. policy I swear the whole "world police" as elected by the world is annoying, criticism of U.S. policy by those both home and abroad is beyond ignorant.

I hereby nominate you to be the architect of Joe Biden's "You Can Still Be Successful But You Don't Need Billions and Billions and Billions" (YCSBSBYDNBBB) economic policy

The key word is "like". Find someone "like" her who doesn't want your guns to be taken away.

Again, guns are not the big picture. We're talking about a system which is headed down a path where you'll have to sell your guns anyway in order to eat.

For those who don't prepare for such a system, yes.

I haven't seen anyone "like" her who doesn't want to take my guns away.

Again, willfully ignoring multiple accounts of orange man saying and doing creepy things. Like would you be totally cool with him barging into a changing room full of young girls "because he's seen it all before" if it was your daughter? How about moving on your significant other "like a bitch"? Totally cool with that? Would you leave your kid alone with a known friend and associate of Epstein, or really trust them to not be shady in other ways?

Is there documented, video proof of the things he's accused of physically doing (like there is of Biden touching kids inappropriately, when they're clearly uncomfortable with it), or is he an insecure rich blowhard who likes to talk big because he likes the status it gets him? We're clearly talking about two different things here, and I don't think they're comparable.

That's leaving out all the sexual assault allegations (which... fine, most stand as allegations and are arguable, so I'm not gonna go down that road, but they are there, and lots of them), and his own statements and photos with his own daughter coming off as very very wierd in a sexual nature at a minimum.

Rich person has allegations of mistreatment against him. Shocker.

So you knew the second you saw some hair sniffing Biden was unelectable, and you could never ever in a million years vote for him, but for some reason Trump gets a pass? Again, I'm not excusing Biden in the least bit, but let's agree if you are applying the same standard to both candidates your point of view isn't passing the smell test.

I didn't see video of Trump repeatedly touch and grope a female child's breast, with the child clearly trying to get away. I saw Biden doing that. Dismissing that as "hair sniffing" is ridiculous. If I saw video of Trump doing that, I wouldn't vote for him either based solely on that.

Like I know what the deal is here, let's not make excuses, just say certain points of view you have on other topics override literally anything else of importance when it comes to politics and not make excuses and silly justifications.

You think physically touching a female child's breast, when the child tries to get away from the touching, is the same think as Trump bragging that females let him grab them because of his status. It's so night and day of a comparison, I can't even understand how you can think it's two sides of the same coin.

Trump was caught on a recording bragging about physical harassment so I’m not sure what you’re going on about. Unless you’re just desensitized by him grabbing women by the p****.

See above.

And he is pro 2A

Whaaaaaaaat

This is largely a statement from people who don't understand the arguement at hand.

Similar to the "where do we stop" statement from those hesitant to adopt an idea.

The U.S. is wholeheartedly incapable of being a true socialist state such as Venezuela since we have property rights enshrined in out constitution that limit a governments command over such property.

Socialist policies though that seek to benefit the society as a whole are truly something you oppose?
Ok I’m game. Name, say 3, socialist policies, that are good for society as a whole. And I’ll be the first to admit that capitalism is far from perfect sir.
And he is pro 2A

Yah it’s taxing reach people for once. And not letting their shitty ass kids inherit 100% of their wealth

That makes the assumption that capitalism and socialist policies are opposites?

Let's see. Publicly maintained roads, the U.S. military is the largest and most costly socialist program we have, fire departments, public libraries, bridges, garbage collection, public landfills, the polio vaccine, education systems, public parks, sewer systems, Medicare, the justice system, the Hoover dam, the FDA, the EPA, the CDC ...government as a whole, disability insurance, WIC, public street lights, public defenders, S-CHIP, NPR, PBS, OSHA, USDA, DHHS, CBP, NWS...I mean I'm not sure you know how socialist this country already is, and yet the Red Menace has yet to scalp my grandchildren and throw me in a gulag.

I'm curious what you think a socialist policy is?

Shit dude I'll narrow it down for you.

Budweiser, apple pie, and baseball are all influenced or directly subject to socialist policies in America.

As if needing video evidence is The only way for it to hold merit. Night and day difference? Give me a fuckin break. And the video evidence with the little black girl with trump meant nothing to you too. You’re just bullshitting. Bullshitting for the guy who said he’d date his daughter if she wasn’t his daughter. To actually take trump over Biden on a higher moral ground is quite comical. I think I should pay you for this free entertainment.
