“Not interested in reduction in force” and “reduction in force has been discussed and is a possibility” are not mutually exclusive.
Doesn’t mean anyone’s lying. Could be an exaggeration or misunderstanding in terms of the scope of these “discussions.” And it’s possible that a meteor wipes us out next year. Sounds like both sides using language that will be technically correct either way because it doesn’t mean anything.

The NWP RVP 100% said on a call that RIF is in play, and that was a big part of his justification for why certain facilities are being forced back to BWS, during a huge spike in not only cases nationwide, but in ATC-0 events across the country. He mentioned "getting ahead of the Furloughs" by bringing everybody back into the building to train. I have no reason to just make that up.
My personal opinion is that they're making RIF threats up to use as an excuse for why we're going back to BWS and adding bodies to the facility, when we are at a higher level of COVID spread than we were during 5/10. I dont think anybody is actually buying it, but its what they're trying to sell.

I think the fact that we already had an ATC shortage pre-COVID plus the two vaccines plus retirements/attrition just doesn’t add up to an RIF. Straight from the email the same sentiment was echoed as well. I’m a hard SELL on the RIF at least for controllers. Maybe support specialists maybe training specialists whatever but they aren’t going to kill the goose that lays the golden egg

Waivers can be applied for to bring people in before the map says it’s okay. And I would imagine upper management won’t mind approving them.

Really? We got some CPC ITs that were already certified here that can’t get approved. They’d be CPC again in under a month

What region? My facility applied for a waiver over a month ago and it seems dead in the water.

I may have missed it but I don't recall my region even mentioning that applying for a waiver was a thing. I'm pretty sure I heard about it on here.

So based off this comment and what my RVP said, RIF is happening immediately, anyone within 5 years of retirement is getting axed and anyone in the academy or lined up to go to the academy is also axed. Trust me my RVP said

Assuming no hiring freeze this backlog is gonna be epic for the AGs. Behind my group that luckily got recalled in June and are training now. It’s gonna be like about 2 years for the next person to certify. And there’s about 30 people in that group

Anybody that has sectors/Dsides is going to be brought back for their 120 day currency, and they're going to remain on the schedule after that. All to protect from RIF discussions that NATCA National say arent actually happening.
No idea about AG people.

Not Here. I have all of my D sides and was about to go to radar class in March when we were sent home. we just got our waiver approved a couple weeks ago to bring back fully D-side certified developmentals. Yesterday was my first day back. we didnt have anyone with partial radar quals though.
