Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-17-ALLSRCE-53474

Hopefully my file is getting reviewed now. I finished 2/19, got an email a week later for more info and sent it in a week after that.
From what I've read applicants were getting phone calls with dates.

Yes class dates have been going out for a while. Some from this bid are in OKC right now about to begin the academy. I finished my CIL requirements on 2/14, got my security clearance and my medical is cleared and signed off. Have yet to get a date, hopefully soon.

Same here. Finished everything on 2/27. I’ve been told I have my conditional security clearance, but haven’t heard anything on medical yet. Waiting along with you guys!

How’re you liking OKC? Good luck tomorrow!

I'm staying at IB and after reading all the horror stories about it being in a shady part of town/rundown I was a little worried. It's definitely not the Ritz, but it's decent enough for 4 months of living. Could be a lot worse IMO. Haven't explored too much of the city yet, but it's HUGE. I'm not even sure how they still call it one city. Really windy today and about 50 degrees.

Went to pre-register for my ID pass this morning and drove by Anotle, definitely wishing they had an opening when I called, it looks really nice and is a lot closer to the MMAC. The girl at the security center said spring time was the best time to be in Oklahoma, so that's a bonus.

Super excited to start Basics and meet some people

If you have any questions about OKC or the area, feel free to ask. I’ve been here all my life. There’s a crap ton of construction going on downtown, but Yukon is a nice little, quiet town about 20 min west of the MMAC to do some exploring too.

I finished all my requirements at the beginning of February, but upon email last week found out my medical had been "lost". As for spending spring in OKC, bring your shittiest vehicle you own as April-June is Hail and Tornado season. I lived in OKC for 5 years while stationed at Tinker.

I know Kim's place has garages, and you can rent a garage or carport at Anatole. I'll be doing one or the other...I'm sort of a detailing geek and I'd be pissed if I got some hail damage lol

Just signed and sent back FOL for TRACON. I originally signed TOL for terminal. When I emailed my rep to clarify she said TRACON falls under Terminal, which I understand. I asked if that means I will specifically be placed in a TRACON facility upon passing the academy and she said that’s up to the Air Traffic Organizatin. Anyone else get this?

Are you in NY? Another guy got switched from enroute to TRACON and he lives in NY. You will be doing TETRA instead of Terminal training. I imagine they'll be sending you to N90. There was supposed to be a totally different bid to get OTS people straight into NY N90 but they never ended up doing it. Looks like they're drafting people from this bid now.

I am in NY although I was hoping to end up somewhere not in NY. Guess we’ll see! Thanks!

I got the tracon specialty and they told me I would stay in NY. Not sure if you can request another level 10+ tracon upon graduation? You start 4/2 as well? That's the date I received, I started a thread.

I got date of 5/11. Long term I wanted to make it back to LI(I’m currently upstate), but was hoping to have a stop along the way lol. Good luck in class! Let us know how it goes.
