Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-17-ALLSRCE-53474

It took them a month to contact my employer... I completed my CIL two weeks ago and still waiting to hear. Waiting was easier back when I thought it would be at least October before I heard anything. Now that people are getting class dates and they seem to be sending the New Yorkers to N90 I’ve been anxious to hear something.

I am in the same boat as you, but I finished my CIL requirements last week. I emailed medical Monday just to see where they were and my drug test had already cleared. All I am waiting on is my MMPI which is currently "pending".

They’ve seemed to slow down on giving class dates since the first “wave.” Just sit tight. We’ve all waited since July. We can all wait a little more.

Based on the classes being posted on SM, it looks like they "caught up". When they called me for a class date on March 6th, (I was 2016 bid) they asked if I could make 3/20. So they were obviously falling behind a bit.

Kinda what I was thinking. Its like they really had to expedite a few people through to prevent there being open seats in OKC. I'm assuming that's not an issue currently, so back to normal we go.

Just spoke with HR. Got my conditional clearance and drug test results back. Just waiting on the medical to clear and then we are good!

Dang you guys got hosed! I had 17 mile drive to ZID. Took my MMPI, then one of my dad's old coworkers took me on a very detailed tour that lasted over 3.5 hours. Great day all around!

I toured ZKC for a couple hours last month. Seeing the TMU and sitting in with a couple controllers was really cool. Also got to talk with 6 newbies who were fresh out of the academy. Their number 1 piece of advice was to frequent the Cowboys in OKC. It confirmed ATC is a career path I could see myself doing for a long time. I finished my medical/drug test on the same day as you, so hopefully our time for an FOL is coming very soon!

One can only hope!

Holy crap I just looked up Cowboys. That place looks like a blast. $.25 beer and live bull riding? I'm in!

Do you have to drive far to take yours? I had to drive over 100 miles. I love roadtrips though so it was no big deal.

Not too far. About 50 miles. LA traffic will surely make it a brutal drive!

CHRIST. I've commuted maybe 20 miles altogether TOPS to get all my CIL requirements done. I was even able to do my fingerprints at the FAA building with my actual security POC.

I wish I could have gotten a tour of ZSE when I was there; the lady issuing the MMPI didn't seem interested making small talk, much less showing me around. Framed picture of Donald Trump in the lobby tho. That's always weird.
