How long after the ATSA do they give you a class start date? I'm taking it end of October but I graduate college May 2018

For the '16 bid i took my ATSA at the end of November and was in class by May. You can certainly be given a class date while you're still in school but i'm sure they will work with you on that.

You should play powerball. That short of a timeline is exceptionally rare and not representative of the typical length.

Anyone in Pool 2 who got to bypass the BioQ this round received an email yet? As of 10am EST I still haven't received one. Sounds like they should be sending more out this week, but just wanted to ask.

Pool 1 got to bypass the BioQ. I am pool 1 and still have not received anything

I know others have chimed in. The earliest class date seen from the last panel was the end of March. However, that is without the current academy backlog and under ideal circumstances. There's ~2,000+ people from the last bid that haven't seen the academy yet. The academy averages around ~1,500 students a year. Stranger things have happened, but I would be surprised if anyone from this bid saw the academy before Oct 1st, 2018 (the new fiscal year) given the current backlog.

You'll be fine. There's no danger of getting a class before then.

My timeline was quicker than this. I took the ATSA in December 2016 and had a class date in April 2017. If they call you for a date that doesn't work because of school just ask for a later class and they will probably help you out, I know they did it for others that had this issue.

That being said, I know HR is still working people from my bid so Stinger is right.

Yeah, then you got guys like me who also took the AT-SA in December, but didn’t even get a CIL till August and am still waiting for a class date. And I think there are some who don’t have CILs yet. I wouldn’t stress on timeline at this point

I am an active duty controller getting out in June of 2019, taking the ATSA next month as a pool 2 applicant. With how long it takes them to do everything, my service commitment shouldn't hurt anything if I am selected for a TOL right? Roughly I've seen the process take 1-2 years off the street so if I did NOT apply for veterans preference and went pool 2 like a normal off the street should I be ok?

I saw the 120 day stipulation for veterans preference. Since I did not apply under that, that is why I was asking.

i took it in may of 15 and got a November class date.

I called HR on Monday and they said that they're still sending out emails. It's already the middle of the week and I still haven't got anything..

I'm kind of confused about some being asked to verify school records. I mean it makes sense but I haven't been asked for documentation of anything and I'm pretty sure the only reason I made it this time is because I finally hit college hours.


To everyone worried about a timeline. I've read about them deferring academy so I wouldn't stress about it too much. There are so many steps ahead of us right now that there's no use borrowing problems from the future.

When I went to schedule my test there were no dates in November. This could be because of location but it could also be because they are scheduling in waves like it's been said before.

Scheduled to take the ATSA in Mass on 10/9. Glad to see I didn't have to take a day off work to go do it.

Anyone else who bypassed the BioQ this year whether it be Pool 1 or Pool 2 still not have an email to schedule the AT-SA yet? Hate to beat a dead horse, but the anxiety is starting to set in since I haven't received one yet.
