Haha I cannot WAIT to put in my notice :D my current job, I’m on salary, and they regularly have me working 60+ hour weeks, and weeks at a time without a day off, most nights and all weekends, all without a DIME of OT pay. And the saddest part is, day 1 at the FAA academy with salary + per diem, I’ll be making more than I do at this current gig.
Can't wait either. I'll be making double😅

I haven't heard anything from anyone since I completed my medical and phone interview about a month ago. So one one hand I'm dying waiting. On the other hand, I don't know if I'd be able to start the academy before November due to personal obligations, so I haven't actually contacted anyone cause I'm afraid of pushing it and getting a FOL right away...

Lmao I wish pestering them would get us FOLs faster 😅 I think if they’re on top of your clearances they could call you any time regardless of communication but people have asked for delayed dates and they’ve been accommodated most of the time so you’d probably be fine

It's always possible, but seems unlikely at this point. I caved and called HR to find out how qualified I was. Turned out I was in the "best qualified" group. It makes you wonder how close you are, and sucks to be in this spot.
Wonder why they didn't send everyone a tol in the best qualified band.

Maybe they were just saying that because they love giving out false hope. Lol
But srsly, it’s weird that a “best qualified” wouldn’t get a TOL. I don’t think I’ve seen that term/classification in prior OTS bids.

Fits right in with some of the pool 1 cti that didn't get picked up and scored over 80 on last year's bid I believe.

Just because you’re in the best qualified band doesn’t mean there’s enough slots available for everyone. From what we were told at the academy, since we were there, our scores on the ATSA would be “effectively a 100” if they converted the weighted scores into a number. I’m sure there’s still some distribution of scores in the top band.

If that's the case why have another bid each year? Just go for all the best qualified that didn't get picked on the first round.

BTW has anyone found out the real difference between best and we'll qualified? Is best qualified pool 1?

Because they want the highest scores possible.

Pool 1 is Vets and CTI. Pool 2 is Off the Street. No one knows what the score breakdown of the bands is.

Anyone know if it will be a problem if I dont return my welcome package forms until about 3 days before my class date? I'm in Punta Cana for a week for a friends wedding and I get back 3 days before I have to be in Oklahoma. I'm not sure it is even possible to complete and fax the forms from here so I'm not sure what I should do. On top of that, the contact they gave me has an automated email response saying he is out of the office for a couple days.

I'd be finding a computer and a scanner or fax machine if I were you.

Just wanted to come on here and say, to all of you waiting for clearances and FOLs, we are in this wait together. Keep your head up and keep working as if nothing ever happened. I've kinda just put the ATC emails in the back of my mind. I've done my part and now it's their turn to do theirs. Your foot is in the door, you just have to wait until they call you in.

Got an out-of-office email from my Security contact, she's out until April 29th. Guess I don't have to worry about refreshing for a while!

Also, nah, Boston needs another championship. The drought has been unbearable.

Depends on what resort you’re at, but Dreams PC had a fax machine and work center for the guests. I did some last minute work from there last year

To those of you that are mentioning 'best qualified', pool 2, pool 1, etc. I received a TOL at the end of February as a pool 2 North East applicant. When I had called HR at the start of February, they had told me that more selections could be made but most likely they were under the impression that no further selections would be made and I would have to reapply. Just because you weren't accepted yet, does not mean the ATO will not get around to selecting you.

The reason why some people that are in the 'best qualified' category but were not yet selected could also be due to the personality test that was given during the exam. It isn't clear if the personality test factors into your score of being 'best qualified' but if you had failed the personality quiz, that could be a reason why you were not selected.
