Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

how long ago do they care about drug stuff? I've been Air Force for 10 years and have a TS/SCI and they know about it, just wondering if the FAA would care more about it and put me tier 2.

I have a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge from 2009 that was dismissed but I'm not too concerned about it. Guess we'll both find out.

I received a TOL and replied back within 24 hours. Should I be worried if I haven't heard a reply yet? I would have liked to have received a confirmation of my acceptance already, but with Christmas and the shutdown I assume it would be reasonable to hear a confirmation much later than the five-day window we receive to accept the TOL.

Furthermore, I'm out of the country right now, so it's not so simple to just pick up a phone and call.

I've lost all faith in this bid.

Yes, it is highly highly concerning that a government worker did not receive, process, and reply to your response
  1. within two days of receiving it
  2. over the weekend
  3. before Christmas
  4. during a shutdown.
I recommend getting a Google Voice number so you can immediately call HR and make sure everything's okay. It's 10PM in Oklahoma right now, but I imagine they're burning the midnight oil just for you.

Really? Is it savage? I acknowledged all of those extenuating circumstances in my post.
If he's desperate to get an internet-plagued 'sick burn,' I couldn't care less.

He could of just said, "Yeah, no one really knows right now," but he wouldn't have had a chance to show off how flippantly cool he is.

To clarify, if anyone else who has submitted their TOL acceptance then receives a receipt, I would appreciate it if you would post that fact here.

No, I don't expect them to work over the holidays. And also, no, just because I am asking a question here, on this forum, at 10PM in Oklahoma doesn't mean I'm foaming at the mouth to call HR.

If you don't expect them to work the weekends, holidays or during a shutdown what are you actually concerned about?

Well, for instance, in the TOL they say that if you do not hear back in five days then to go ahead and contact HR to confirm the receipt, however that's not reasonably possible in this circumstance.

Okay, no big deal. I'll try calling after the holidays. But, there's also a government shutdown...
Obviously I'm nervous, so what can I really do except post on this forum and try to get a sense of where things stand and to confirm if anyone else is sitting here with their TOL letter wondering when they'll get a confirmation that it was received.

I don't necessarily want to ask a dumb question and get snark, but at least someone else might say, "Hey, I'm in the same boat here. Don't feel so nervous!"

Or maybe someone will say, "Hey, I got my confirmation the day after. Maybe you should still try calling them in between Christmas and New Years and see if they happen to respond? Couldn't hurt right?"

I was gonna ask the same question, no worries. I sent my acceptance yesterday morning and have heard nothing back. Asked my dad (ATC for going on 30 years) and he said call them after the 5 days regardless of the shutdown/holidays, worst thing they can do is not answer. If that’s the case and they don’t answer, I’ll probably call again once the government is back up and running. My advice is to take it easy for a few days, enjoy the holiday, and then worry about calling. I’m going out on a limb here when I say that lots of stuff from here on out is very fixable, as in if they don’t hear from you or get certain paperwork, they’ll either contact you to work it out or you’ll contact them to work it out. Just my take on things! Good luck, let us know if you hear anything back!
