Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

It's an aptitude test people. Meaning someone fresh outta highschool could beat someone who's been controlling for years. You can practice and study but at the end of the day it comes down to your own abilities. If u cant multiply and reason then give up now lol jk but yall relax
I 100% disagree. If you practice playing a video game for 3 months you will likely be better than someone that try’s it for the first time, not always but it’s pretty likely.

True but totally different scenario. CTI will only help them with having a big head start at academy and facilities not an aptitude test. This test is basically to test your basic ability of reasoning, math, prioritization, and mental stress. Practice just eases one mind and clears the butterflies doesnt make your chances better than anyone else.

Anyone know any websites or ways to practice questions like "There are five people in line. John is in front of Brett, but behind Sue. Jim is two spaces in front of Dave. George is fourth in line. (etc.)"???
These problems are fairly easy when you can take a few minutes to work them out logically, but having to do it with very limited time can be a pain, especially when you're simultaneously worried about using up too much time and not getting to all the other questions.

Practicing those wont make u faster.. just relax and forgot about the time and just let it flow. Your showing right now you'll be worried about the time and you'll rush and that's how u make mistakes. Slow and steady bro

Jobtestprep but it's costly. Based on my experience, you'll have enough time, though.

I don't think it will make me faster or even better and I'm not really worried about it, I just find that practice makes me more comfortable, regardless of whatever activity it is. It would be nice to work through a few on my own time while I wait for my test date, but if there isn't any way to do that without paying for some test service then I'm not really bothered.

I would say that the write-up on here is the most informative just to help you know exactly what to expect. If you feel more comfortable practicing something than jobtestprep is actually not all that bad. The questions aren't exact but it will give you some logical reasoning, spatial reasoning (quite similar to the test IMO), the first two sections of the test (the mathematics games) are on there and the radar simulation is on there also. Again, its not a perfect practice exam and the write-up on here is by far the most accurate and helpful one I've found but if you need to practice a general format of some of the questions I think its well worth the money.

Anyone else buy the ATCprep software for ATSA? I've been doing the air traffic collision scenarios and for the life of me I cannot figure out why I keep getting the "reporting incorrect," even though I solve any collision issues and solve math equations correctly. Also requires you to hit "0" when there are no collisions, and I think this is where it's screwing up. How close is this to what's on the actual ATSA? Would hate to bomb a complete section over a simple misunderstanding if ya dig.

I've used it a bit and once in a while it would give me that message as well. I believe it happened usually when I hit the number to remove a dot right as it was about to collide or if I pressed 0 too late or not at all when there were no collisions. I wouldn't worry about it popping up too much, just make sure you are recognizing when there's no collisions and trying to report it as such.

If you remove a dot, don't hit 0. If you hit 0, do not press 0 a second time. Idk how they are on the actual test but in ATCPrep the sections all flow together and the only real indicator you've moved on to the next level/section is the small numbers at the top right.

This. In ATCPrep it's incredibly difficult to recognize when you are moving to the next simulation section as sometimes dots will fly in at the last second in one section and at the very instant the next begins and its almost like one long continuous section rather than 15 or 20 individual ones. I hope the actual test makes it more clear when one ends and the next begins.

Just finished my ATSA. Honestly I wouldn't recommend paying any money for a practice test/program. You get practice before the sections and, in my opinion, you either have it or you don't when it comes to stuff like memory and spatial recognition. Maybe only if this is like your last or only chance at getting the job. I felt fine with no preparation besides looking at the format at the guide here.

I felt I did fine. I think I did very well on the number difference part, the system of equations part, and the spatial recognition part. The collision part I think I did OK, but it's definitely really hard when there's eight planes at once on your screen. The math equations were pretty much impossible to answer so I just ignored most of them unless I had plenty of time. The last three parts of the test (logic/reasoning, personality, reading comprehension) were just typical as you'd expect.

Good luck to everyone.

Awesome! Thanks for the insight!! I take mine on the 16th super excited!

Good info cause I fee some people have been banging their head against the wall about this test. If it was up to me we would all go to oklahoma but goodluck to everyone and see yall on the other side

Yeah my main advice to those waiting to take this is to just stay calm. You can do it. You don't need to prepare for it. Have fun with it, I certainly did.

Thanks! How was the "memory game"? Should we be expecting some big numbers?

Thanks! How was the "memory game"? Should we be expecting some big numbers?

One tip I can give with the memory game is to get a rhythm going and verbalize(silently) the number in your head. The basics of the game is that it flashes a number (1-9) and then another number after it (Usually within 3 numbers). For example, in my head I repeated "The difference between 9 and 7 is 2, the difference between 7 and 6 is 1, the difference between 6 and 3 is 3, the difference between 3 and 5 is 2...." I just tried to keep a rhythm and verbalized it in my head and I don't think I missed a single one.

In the memory part, were there any numbers that were greater than 9? Like A=16 B=6 C=17?

Also, does anyone know what the pass rate is for the academy?
