Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Any updates on the classes that were sent home and and guesses on how long they’ll be delayed as a result of the shutdown?

I wonder what they will do with the classes that were about to eval. It's going to be a huge disadvantage for them to go back and "catch up" and eval
If they can start back up the 8th or 9th, the original plan was to go back 2 days and start from there. So if they were on TSS #10, they'd start on #8 when they start up.
I don't know when they're looking to bring students back, but I'd guess that 6-7 days from the shutdown ending is when the Academy would start. The longer the shutdown goes, the more catchup days would be needed. It's anyone's guess at this point where the cutoff is to just start the class totally over.

Not trying to get political but I agree with Trump and support most of his policies so I disagree haha. When I said it doesn't sound good I was talking about the length of time the government could be shut down.

It could be somewhat positive for TOL holders, get all your ducks in a row for the Security clearance. Make sure that nothing could stop an interim Security Clearance or at least knowledgeable on what would stand in your way, so your not blindsided.

This shutdown is a blessing in disguise for me personally. Lose some weight for the physical, pay off some debts at the same time. Let the weed clean out of my system. Also don’t have to check my email every 20 minutes because there’s nothing to expect during a shutdown.

I wrote a post earlier detailing as to why you should not expect HR to reopen before Jan. 7th, at this point it will take even longer. Do not expect HR to reopen before the end of next week (Jan.15th-18th). Today Trump made a request to address the Nation on multiple News Channels, for this Tuesday at 9P.M. If there was an actual compromise on the table, that both sides were actively considering to pass this week, he would not go to such lengths. Both sides will wait for polling organizations to run surveys after his broadcast and the results of those typically take days. It is very unlikely that they will even attempt to reach a compromise before then and the poll results will only be released at the end of this week, at the earliest but could go into the weekend. After that, same rules apply, it will take Congress a day to vote on any potential compromise and HR will only reopen that following day.

Unless he doesn’t tell them about it?

From what I've gathered the flight surgeon has access to your SF-86, and while it's possible to get away with lying on the SF-86 it's very highly discouraged (and, you know, a Federal crime). I don't know that the flight surgeon would cross-check your reported drug use on the 8500-8/medxpress vs reported drug use on the SF-86, but I don't see why they wouldn't.

Well since we are all probably really bored and anxious waiting for Donny boy to give up his hissy fit I’ll ask some relevant questions to pass our time. For those of us that got TOL’s what’s the usual timeline to get an academy date and how far out is that academy date usually. My security clearance is done since my reinvestigation was just closed out so I don’t have to wait on that. Any thoughts would be better than watching this dumb news cycle.

Dude, there's literally no way to know. I got my class date 30 days after I got a TOL, but there are also plenty of people from the 2016 bid still waiting on class dates. Having your security clearance might help a bit, but for most people that doesn't hold them up - I got my conditional clearance 3 days after I submitted the e-QIP. Usually the medical is what holds people up, and it often just has to do with the workload of your region's AME even if you get everything done right away, and there's nothing you can do about it. And then of course if you get a Tier 2 for any reason, that'll add months or years to the process. But don't stress out about that - overthinking and trying to beat the MMPI is the best way to fail the MMPI .

MMPI is going to make me nervous. My brain just automatically goes into "ok what are they looking for here...what are they trying to see about me"

I read through the requirements for the medical and it says your eyes need to be correctable to 20/20. I went to my eye doctor just for peace of mind and he said my eyes are definitely correctable to 20/20. Will they give me an eye test to prove this or do I need to go into the medical with my eyes already corrected to 20/20 with glasses/contacts?
