Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Government shutdown might be ending tomorrow, depending on how Trump's press conference goes. Supposedly it's to declare a state of an emergency to use funds towards the wall, if that happens, very likely the government will reopen by Tuesday. Otherwise, expect the government shut down to go on for at the bare minimum, another week, if not longer.
Huh?
Unless something changed

As I said, "might be ending tomorrow", "Supposedly it's to declare" Other news organizations are reporting the opposite of your quoted tweet.

What worries me is that I applied before my 31st birthday. Got my TOL after my 31st birthday, which I know is fine. But it’s looking like no class date for me till after my 32nd birthday. Not sure if that matters.
Im on the exact same timeline as you. Everyone always says the age gets locked in with date of application so hopefully we’ll be ok....

Going back to the “when to expect a CIL” question. I saw that some were saying between 3-6 months. I can only assume that it’s because of the huge backlog in everything academy related.

So, my question is this, how many classes were postponed or rescheduled or is there any way to know?

I briefly skimmed through this thread and didn't find anything but does anyone know if they may be sending out more TOLs after the government re-opens or am I SOL on this bid?

So far, I think 4 classes have been cancelled. None have been rescheduled.

Last year, I believe they sent them out for 2-3 days consecutively. Obviously, this time around they didn’t get around to work an extra day to send out the remaining TOL’s.

That’s my assumption. But I am assuming based on last years bid. I can be wrong.

The fact that they announced a new bid that was suppose to happen in january suggests that not enough people had high scores. It wouldn't surprise me if they sent most if not all of the tols. But who knows.

I think the January job posting was to prevent an issue that cropped up last month. Academy classes weren't full because they didn't have enough people to fill them. Instead of full classes of 18 with the occasional class with fewer, they were scheduling multiple classes in a row with only 12 students. So this was an issue with the number of people that they pulled from the 2017 announcement, and didn't want the same problem to happen in 2020.

That’s interesting. A lot of what I had “heard” before was that the academy was always super back logged. But this makes more sense, and I may have read that on stuckmic, which I’ve found isn’t as organized or useful as here.

When was this announced? When exactly in January was the bid speculated to be open?

I'm kinda in a limbo. I was referred but didn't receive a TOL in the first wave. I was hoping if I didn't receive one then I would be able to apply to the Jan bid for one final chance.
I turn 31 this Saturday.
I'm still hoping that all the TOLs weren't initially sent out, but the pessimist in me thinks it seems I missed my chance.

Dang that really does suck... Feel for you man. It is still possible that TOL's were not all sent out but I wouldn't doubt if for this bid they sent out all they planned to considering another bid was scheduled so soon

@njeezy08
Could also view it from an optimistic stand point. Shut down is going into its second month, during this time Air Traffic Controllers that planned to retire, will still retire after or during this shut down. No new trainees were added or certified from the academy during this period. Some people that applied and received/accepted their TOLs will lose interest. The longer the shut down lasts, the longer it will take them to open a new bid to replace those numbers. It's possible that they'll have to take more from this bid to replace those numbers/back log.

Or 2014 could happen all over again. It’s never to sure. Just have to wait it out.
