Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Got a tentative class date of May 31st, enroute!! Super excited!! Still waiting on the official FOL though, I assume I can expect it by tomorrow?

One other question, does medical insurance kick in Day 1 at the academy? My wife has some medical conditions, it’s critical we don’t have any lapses in coverage...

HR goes over everything the first day. It is an absolutely wonderful, ppt filled day. You can go online, compare the plans, pick whatever you want, and it’ll kick in on the next pay period.

I would not cancel any coverage you have yet. You get briefed on insurance I think on day one but it may take a few days to get in to the site where you can view and chose your insurance and it may take a while after that to receive your insurance cards.

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately, my insurance right now is through my current employer, and I assume I’m dropped as soon as I hit my last day :/

This hiring process is fucking malarkey. It's total bullshit.

I'm 29.

I was in the Marine Corps for 6 years. I had a combat job and threw a hand grenade, fired an automatic grenade launcher, fired an automatic .50 cal machine gun, shot an M4 many times on the rifle range for qual(always Expert Rifle score) and drove a 28 ton Amphibious Assault Vehicle(YATYAS), went to Japan for a bit and (at my commander's retarded leadership) drove up a frozen Mt. Fuji (without anyone in my command getting hurt) in a fucking water tank.

I also led crews to mission completion as an Amphibious Assault Vehicle Crewchief. I left as a Sergeant in February 2019. My phone won't stop ringing to get me to re-enlist. I have an Honorable Discharge. My superiors and peers loved me and only have the best remarks to describe my performance.

The first and only time I applied to this job was in July 2018 when I was getting out of the service soon. I crushed the ATSA in October 2018. They threw a TOL at me in December.

I fulfilled everything in the CIL less than 2 weeks after I received it. I've been to Canada in 2005(I was 15), Japan 2017-2018, met my fiancee during this deployment. She's the sweetest woman in the world.

I have no medical disabilities.

I failed the magical MMPI.

I will have to wait for so many more months and maybe years.

Good thing though. I might hurt people if given the chance...

Jesus fucking Christ.

Bureaucratic bullshit.

My God it’s Jason Bourne...

Can't tell if trolling or not.
I'm guessing you were 3d tracks, I was there, probably before you, in 2012 (not an 18xx). Not sure why you think anything you mentioned has anything to do with being hired as a controller though. The only relevant thing is that you're a veteran so you get the 5 points.

Just a tip, when it comes to your tier 2 eval, I don't recommend talking at all like you did in this post or you'll probably be not recommended.

Does it usually take several days after all your clearances reach HR for them to contact you with a start date? I would have thought it'd be same day, or at least the day after ?

I would double check on that. My insurance was good until the end of the month (or maybe it was 30 days) after I left. Also you can by COBRA insurance which is pretty expensive but may be worth it to cover the gap.

Thank you very much! I’ll have to look into it. This is the first career change I’ve made since graduating 4 years ago so it’s all a new experience lol.

Just offered May 23rd class date yesterday evening. POC is CG. Did my medical on April 4th and drug test on April 11th. My process went quicker than I expected.
My heart just skipped a beat reading this. I finished off medical the same week as you and I have CG as my POC as well. I have a trip coming up mid-May and my husband just got a job that requires him to move, so I'm kind of hoping CG holds off on notifying me of a class date for a while. ?

I took my medical exam on 2/28 and just got my FOL today. If your person handling your stuff goes on vacation strap in. These timelines are still pretty damn fast. Anyone else have May 10 class date?
