With the controller shortage I think all the "standard norms" are changing. You see it on the airline side as well with the pilot shortage.

Yeah eligibility to transfer in the short term is drastically weighted towards tower only. But you get ranked higher by both Tracons and high level towers if you have a radar ticket. Honestly I can't see the trends continuing indefinitely towards tower only but that's just a prediction.
While I'll agree with you on the TRACON ranking, we'll have to agree to disagree on the higher level Towers. I believe it's all dependant on the type and volume of each individual facility. The majority of small up/downs are statistically carried by the TRACONs. If the towers were stand alone, they'd be on the verge of being contracted out (I am curious to see what the FAA does with some of the towers left over from all of the consolidation of the TRACONs). From all high level tower tours I've been on, they seemed to weigh heavily on type of volume (air carriers/air taxi/military vs GA).

I don't think I've seen anyone get a center list. Didn't think that was even possible. What's your experience?

anyone know about center lists?? when? how often? anyone gotten one lately ?? anyone...anyone...

One of my buddy's got a center but not sure if that was direct hire or through the academy. I did see on the last enroute placement list there was a reserved for previous experience for Oakland ARTCC

prior faa center controller for 11 yrs. USN 5yrs. so i will be a direct hire so was just wondering the frequency output of center lists. my other friends hired from here have gotten lists with 6....hoping this week for my sake

Ohh ok. Prior FAA, makes sense. I can't imagine it would be any less frequent than terminal folks. You would think it would be a lot easier for you since damn near every center needs people. Best of luck man and I hope you get somewhere you want.

Previous FAA, voluntary left had some home issues to deal with didn't even try for a hardship. Previous FAA contractor doing tower and then Army controller in Iraq and Afghanistan.
