Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-19-ALLSRCE-61676

I received my at basic election form and eods today. I just want to compare. Did you only have 2 forms to fill out for eods? I thought I saw some comments saying they had 3 forms but I only have 2. I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything.

As someone else said. I also had a total of 3 forms on the website

There was an faa confirmation number I gave them
You should have had a document with the cost of the exam and EKG and instructions for your AME to bill. You should reach out to your POC if you didn't get one. I think I got mine after completing the initial questionnaire.

Not sure how much longer this sets the process back or whatever but.... my supervisor received that letter everyone has been mentioning. It simply asks to verify employment type, date, and position. It also asked some questions like "Do you have any reason to question this person's character." or something along those lines. Anyways he completed it and was put back in the mail today..

Have you received a FOL? How far into the post TOL process are you when your boss received the letter? I'm curious because my employer still thinks I'm interested in moving into a managerial role at his business. He's a little spiteful so I don't want to soften the blow too early and get fired and be out of money with no way to buy gas to get to Oklahoma.

As it sits I'll barely be able to make it unless I get another credit card or borrow a few thousand dollars, depending on how far I have to move for my first assignment. I still don't know how people financially juggle their bills at home while at the academy with such a low wage (half what I make as a cook in a city). Then seven days to move all your crap? It'll take me three just to drive back from Oklahoma! Hopefully I'm missing something with that timeline.

I'm ready to get all this pre academy stuff over with.

This has been answered numerous times throughout this thread. Once you submit your EQIP for the background investigation your present employer will get the questionnaire generally within a week. Generally the sooner you tell your boss, the best. Or they'll find out from a letter in the mail and be extra pissed... Up to you. No one knows your work situation.

The wage is low at academy, but the per diem is high. I made more money at academy than I did when I got to my first facility. And if you plan to be frugal you can pocket quite a bit of per diem. Find a place to stay that offers the shuttle to academy and has food included. I drove down my first time there, but flew and didn’t have a car the second. Got boring but it was a lot easier.

There's a recent change where you can't pocket per diem housing per diem anymore

Don't you make around 50k as AG? That's less than the academy?

Maybe it should go on the FAQ so nobody has to dig through 150 pages. I've only read the last ten or so pages of this thread and haven't seen the answer to when it goes out.

It is less than the academy, when you add in $95.60 a day tax-free (that's almost an extra $35k annualized). Depends on what deal you make with the housing provider but I was for sure making more in OKC than at AG.

For new hires who can't pocket the housing difference it may be less dramatic, but it's still a fair amount of money.

If you dont like the question you dont have to answer plain and simple. For you to go out of your way just to be an asshole definitely shows your true character.
If you don't like the answer you can read the goddamn FAQ before spouting off whatever question comes to your mind. The point of the discussion board is to answer questions that are not commonly asked, otherwise it becomes bloated and hard to find any useful information. You could have the common courtesy to read through the FAQ (there are what, seven pages?) before asking questions. Me personally, I would try to do my own research as much as possible before sticking my neck out on a public forum...

I thought the change was just to housing? M&IE is still $38.60 per day. It’s posted in the FAQ. Plus the hourly wage.

I've definitely seen all this and housing plus food and fuel being covered is great, and $38 is pretty much only going to cover food and fuel. I did not realize some of the housing options included food though so that's nice. Still the hourly wage leaves you with $1920 per month before, and approximately $1500 after taxes. My housing cost is about $2500/month. If it weren't winter id move out now, lease my place to somebody and live in my car for the couple months leading to the academy.

Oh dang. Just saw this: Effective 10/01/19, the new long-term (16 or more class days) per diem rate is $101.60 per day. Granted, you can't pocket any of that, but still widens your options.

Update: The FAA Academy Student Services FAQ says
(link: FAA Academy Student Services )

What is the long-term per diem rate?
Effective 10/1/2019 the new long-term (16 or more class days) per diem rate is $101.60 per day.

But the Faa Academy Student Services Housing FAQ says:
(link: FAA Academy Student Services – Housing FAQs )

Suggested Questions to Ask Lodging Providers Prior to Making Your Reservations in the Oklahoma City Metro Area
Do you accept the federal government daily per diem rate of applicable dollar amount?
Long Term Rate (16 class days or more): up to $63.00 including taxes

Anyone have any insight on this discrepancy?
