Facility Downgrades / Upgrades

Likely facing a downgrade in the future. Anybody with experience wanna help assure me that 'base pay' will never go down if I don't leave my facility? I've read the relevant article in the CBA, but I want to make sure and googling it gives an incomplete picture. To my understanding, if the pay band drops to where the top of the band falls below my then-current base pay, my base pay is retained and future raises are afforded as written - the base pay is NOT lowered to the top of the new band. Is this accurate?

I thought it was just that you saved pay for 3 years and then went to the top of the band. Haven't read it, that's just what I've heard so idk

From what I understand of your question, you are correct per this section. You remain on the previous pay band for two years (and get normal raises), and when that two years expires, your pay “freezes,” and your raises become 50% of the raise applied to your salary and 50% issued in a lump sum.

So basically they give you 50% of your January raise to your base and 50% as a bonus until you are back to the top of the band?

In my experience you stay above the band. The June raise is also a lump sum. Your pay will go up with January raises only, and only 50% of it. In my case, the facility got downgraded twice and I've always been above the band of the new level.

Thank you for the info and testimony, I believe my original position is correct luckily. If someone's pay fell to the top of the new(lower) pay band, I doubt they would need a section called "Pay Retention" and word it like that. It seems it would read much more direct.
