Gi Bill suspended For trainees

I've gotten my payment but curious if anyone else has run into the same problem as me.

As most of us know, you get 100% of the benefit for 6 months, then 80% the next 6 months. It was my understanding that if you went to a new facility, this reset to 100%.

I'm now at my 3rd facility. At my 2nd facility, the benefit reset to 100%. Now that payments have started up again, they sent me a letter saying it never should have reset at that 2nd facility.

They're telling me I owe nearly 10k. The letter says I have 1 year to request an additional review.

Edit: Should have searched the site before I posted. It looks like it's not supposed to reset. Consider yourself lucky if it does and they don't catch you for repayment. If I knew, I would've said fuck it, I won't use it anymore.

If anyone has resources or guidance, I'd appreciate it. I think I'll look into getting a lawyer to at least attempt at avoiding the repayment.

It shouldn't reset. If you ask the VA they will tell you the same. Some on here claim they got to keep the money but it's not a risk work taking and you're going to likely lose and owe that money back.

What do you mean by risk? I didn't choose for it to reset. As far as I'm concerned it was a administrative error on their part.

I don't any details, but I know for disability overpayments they can be written off if it creates hardship. Maybe worth looking into.

Was the 2nd and 3rd facility a different type of certification ? I’ve heard it resets if it’s a different cert, just hoping its true because i wanna milk the rest of my GI bill
