I saw they are sending some of our new NEST guys to an Initial Tower Cab Class in Atlanta. Anyone else sending some people there? I wonder if this is a long term thing and if it’s going to be for new hires as well.

Academy classes definitely need to branch out from OKC. That’s been the bottleneck in training for years. My only concern would be how kids are going to find housing that takes the shitty FAA per diem rate. No Kims Place in Atlanta or other big cities.

Id imagine it'd be the same for when there are RTF/TSEW classes at other facilities like SCT or C90 but idk

Idk if the FAA per diem rate is lower than the government rate but most hotels have a government rate you can get

The FAA per diem rate for housing is still like $65/day. No hotel in a major city like Atlanta is going to accept that, unless you’re willing to stay at a dump. The OKC economy has adapted for it with several housing providers dedicated to renting at that rate.

I think they would give them the per diem rate for those cities though just like RTF and TSEW. I imagine the only reason the academy per diem rate is that low is because the academy has been there forever and these places have been able to run a business based off the academy kids and have had to compete with lower prices.

Unless 65$ is just the OKC per diem rate though but I want to say I got more when I was there for radar

Yes, the long-term housing per diem for OKC is $69.60 which is for over 30 days stays. The short term rate is $116.
