Newark Airspace Petition

The brothers and sisters on the front lines have been screaming about the inevitable failure of ripping apart the building that controls the NY/NJ airspace. This airspace was designed and built for everyone to be in the same room together, moving traffic safely and efficiently through the world's most complex airspace.

Sign and pass on. National cares about themselves. This is the grassroots movement we need. You may have negative opinions about N90, but I bet we both share the same views on Nationals inaction on things that actually matter. The working conditions and the reckless "safety culture" that the Newark sector has had to endure this last year is unthinkable. Take a second and sign the petition.

It’s not happening.
I don’t know that I would say that when this 804 adversely affects other stakeholders. It may not happen soon, but once the airlines and city of Newark are pissed off enough from the monetary losses as a result of the numerous delays things will start changing. This is a festering sore that the FAA/DOT will have to rectify, it’s just a matter of time.

The U.S. Govt is literally oppressing business and travel of its citizens because of its lack of ability to provide a public service that it has been charged by Congress to provide. Not a good look from about all angles.

Going on a rant so read on at-will.

The United States is become 3rd world. These are types of issues you experience in India, Brazil, & Nairobi...never in Dubai, Singapore, or hell, even Panama. I would argue that Japan's extensive, expansive, complex rail system with trollies and bullet trains is the equivalent of our ATC system. You would never encounter such an extravaganza like this. They have pride, dedication, discipline, and obligation. There would trails if not interrupted by suicide first - extreme I know.

People need to be aware of who they vote for. I'm not advocating for a party but rather platforms. If bottomless, emotional, social issues are your focus that you pump money into, necessities are going to crumble. I say, if people are inconvenienced by this, so be it. Tell them to start paying attention.

There was little doubt this move was going to fail. Typical FAA does everything quickly, cheaply, with the most incompetent oversight. If they cared, make those responsible know and hold them accountable. Instead, they probably all got promoted and raises.

The union hasn't said one thing about this...except "equipment". So they don't care either.

While I sorta feel bad for the Controllers, they held their palms out when the FAA dangled the dollars and they are going to keep their palms out. Let the money bring them happiness. In reality, they can hang out in the break room while Techops patches things up.

In short, I'm not signing.

I don’t know that any controllers took the voluntary move? I heard it was 2 supes and rest were invols. If they are going to move you and you don’t get a choice, they should pay you.

I’ve yet to hear an N90 controller who thought the split was a good idea, even the ones who thought the facility should be moved off Long Island. This was the faa and natca trying to solve a complicated problem with a silver bullet at best, at worst they were trying to usurp Congress and break N90

12 did; not including the two who came as sups. Most of those came because they took the spot of younger people who were going to be forced. I was a willing volunteer. I was/am willing to eat any shit sandwich the FAA fed me to get off Long Island.

N90 deserves this for the scammers they are. It's never going back.

They rode the tiger way too long.

The FAA has the right to move your job whenever they want. If they wanted to move all the centers to Fagro, ND they would have the power to do so. NATCA can just provide lube.

N90 created their own pile of shit. For years they didn’t certify people in hopes of keeping their OT alive. I’ve had friends there and they’ve kept almost anyone out by washing them. I’m at a similar facility but we certify ours that can do the job and we don’t get stupid 5k bonuses for each dev, despite a huge washout rate, not created by us but by a feat of traffic that is difficult to handle, or a desire to maintain OT. Congress stepped in and tried to stop N90s shit and just stepped into Phillys shit and created a bunch of equipment problems that made it even worse. I feel sympathy for Philly because you didn’t ask for this but N90 you’re clowns and you’re a clown facility that created this.
What a pile of BS! I never cared for OT, and while there were many that did like getting OT, nobody was getting washed in order to "keep it". The reality at the EWR sector hasn't changed because it went to PHL. People will likely continue to wash at the same rate as always, if not higher now that the operation will likely be even more complex than it was before due to reduced coordination efficiency with both LGA and Liberty.

Nobody has ever been washed to keep OT. At least not in the 10 years I was there, can’t speak for the 1990’s. Most people withdrew because it was a great scam to get out of your last place and then get a list to almost anywhere in the NAS (especially if you were center). Hell when NCEPT was announced 32 trainees withdrew to avoid being stuck there forever. But the biggest problem was simply not enough people were transferring or sent there over the years so certs could never keep up with retirements. I got there in 2014 and I was the last new hire in my area until 2019 when they sent over 100 ots hires in a year. Over 60% of the EWR area and over 50% of N90 certified in the last 5 years. It just wasn’t enough to keep up with retirements, especially the covid retirement wave. To blame anyone at N90 now for things that happened well before they got there just shows your lack of critical thinking skills. Your friends are simply bitter they couldn’t do it and can’t take responsibility so blame it on everyone else.

I remember when you got there, and I was there for 20 years already. It was always tough, but the only thing that mattered was whether you could do the job or not. We certainly checked out quite a few assholes that I would have loved to see wash, but again...if they could do it they were certified.

It's a popular myth that seems to be perpetuated by disgruntled washouts that can't accept it was their own shortcomings that got them washed. Other facilities love to hate N90, so anything that can fuel that hate is accepted like gospel.
