Anybody that went to the academy, can you tell me which locations were available at that time? I know its obviously different every year, im just trying to see how wide the variety actually is and are there a lot of options or just a few? Just another curious applicant but would love the help. Thanks!-

ATSA test locations or academy grad facility locations?

A lot of variables for this one. Depends on if you’re terminal or Enroute, how many people pass in your class, and the facility needs at that time. That’s pretty far off at this point, I’d be prepared to go literally anywhere, part of this job.

Facility locations. Im just really curious because thats not something anybody really talks aboit on these forums.

Look at the pass rate threads to see what people ahead of you have been offered.

From the FAQ:
How do I select my facility?
After passing evaluations, each class is given a list of facilities to choose from. The facilities are drawn from the priority placement lists, and number of slots offered will be match the number of graduating students. The selection order is based on your class ranking (highest score first).

OCONUS locations will not be on selection lists, but may be available to volunteer for near the start of the class. They will only be available if they are in the top 250 slots on the placement list.

Are you kidding me? Enroute there are 21 options. Terminal there are hundreds. Every FAA facility in the country level 7 and below could technically be available, occasionally a level 8 facility. There is no regional preference nor do they care where you want to go. It is at the needs of the agency. Could be anything from St. Thomas to Buffalo to Grand Canyon to Fairbanks to Guam to Fargo

Interesting! I was somehow under the impression that they were only hiring for a few facilities while that obviously sounds silly now. Whats the difference between terminal and en route? How do you know what level the facilities are? I guess i sound like an idiot but id love to learn everything i can.

Does the academy tell you what the starting pay rate would be at each facility before you have to choose from the list? Or are we going blindly?
