Does anybody know the process for reapplying after quitting as a trainee? Previous experience hire but last time I did air traffic with a rating was 6 years ago and I haven’t acquired a rating in FAA yet.

Apply to a bid I believe. You don’t qualify for the reinstatement since you weren’t cpc and it’s been more than 5 years.

Specifically an off the street bid only. You would not be subject to the age requirement as long as you provide your SF-50.

I whole heartedly encourage you, without knowing the full situation, to achieve certification and give it your best shot. Once you gain CPC status you can always come back on a reinstatement bid after having CPC at your facility one year. Per the new SOP, you still have to have 5 years atc experience (off the top of my head) provided you have that one year as a CPC. As long as this isn’t TRB #2/3 give it everything you have and once you achieve certification start bidding on DoD jobs to leave your black hole.

CPC designation is forever. ATC experience is valid for hiring purposes for 5 years.
