All this talk of furloughs is bull shit, where did it even come from? No new information to support it. Unfortunately if OJTI don’t start within a month or so though they will table it until the spring. So there might be big news regarding that soon. But then the trainees can just keep sitting at home, they won’t get “furloughed”. At least they will know what situation they are in for months and can get a second job in the meantime, double dip. If anyone says “you can’t do that on excused leave time” tell them to fuck off and if they don’t like it get you back in the building to train.

If it’s any consolation, I heard from a supervisor directly they’re aiming to phase trainees back in starting in September. Only thing that would prevent this from happening would be a delay in the PPE or evidence that the PPE truly was causing more harm than good, but according to the sup the tests went extremely well and they’re feeling pretty confident about the September timeframe.

This is also consistent with what I heard last week.
Juicy training deets: Hope is to go back 8/16, probably will be delayed but sounds like it’s coming. They will have people come in waves, closest to CPC is priority on down. No talk of furloughs yet but gotta keep the zoom classes zooming or we don’t get paid. Face shields were tested and approved by Natca, may be on back order which is why we might be delayed. Ojt’s will work the traffic they have, not the traffic they had, might take longer for certs.

Would furloughs be for anyone without any facility certs? Even transferred CPCs? :gulp:

Yeah, 8/16 isn’t gonna happen. They were aiming for mid to late September. Sounded promising for trainees however they did note it wasn’t “official” so that date could/probably will change.

Not sure why you tagged me, I agree with the statement that an increase in pax count doesn't mean more planes are flying.

i must be imagining it was you arguing with me that pax counts directly means more planes 1:1. sorry.

Oh yes the magical supervisors who are about as useless as natca reps.

but in all seriousness, many facilities are allowing people to go in for admin purposes... my level 4 tower got a new person and they need to go pick up their ipad from the staff specialists. I'm sure the natca rep had an aneurysm.

edit: shit. missed my chance on this. roll the natca gag "training isn't even being discussed." .... well someone is discussing it.... ^^^^^

Unfortunately it sounds like furloughs are coming to anyone who wasn’t certified on any positions. Here at the center the thought is that they are last resort and that they will be offered to come back once new academy grads come through, finish maps, class room non radar, and finally make it to the lab. Then they will slowly funnel in the previous trainees into academy grad radar classes. I think facility is hoping to use them to pump up their budget for the training department. My question is will furloughed employees be locked into their previous FERS contribution or will they have to pay whatever the new rate is the new hires pay assuming it keeps going up?
Yah the academy keeps placing people but they are planning furloughs

All level 4 ATCT have been either closed or contracted out. That’s why you haven’t heard any updates.

What was her experience compared to his? I make $100k more than some of my peers, but I also have 30 years experience while they have significantly less. Whole story and whole picture please instead of black/white, man/woman, let’s add in experience to see what the real difference is. Yes if they had similar resume/experience, they should make equal pay. If she had significantly less than him, no issue.
