Contracts probably got threatened, imagine a PATCO level firing of NBA players.
I was getting irritated when people were calling this a "boycott." The correct term is a wildcat strike, any CBA worth a shit has a clause that doesn't allow organized walkouts. Normal strikes are only legal because the contract has expired so they don't have any of that holding them down.

I'm not against the players using their positions of fame to argue for a cause they think is important. But there might be consequences too.

They have a walkout clause where players are subjected to fines up to 5 mil. Owners have elected to not fine the players
