Personally I'm not a fan of all this jumped-up nationalism as regards the ritual that the National Anthem has become at sports events. I never stand up for it.

Clearly you aren’t the only one. NBA ratings are tanked and NFL opener was -12.4% YOY. People want to explain it away like oh it wasn’t a good matchup or there were other sports on but conveniently forget a lot of people are still on lockdown and STILL chose to do something better with their time.
Nobody wants athletes on a $400 million contract telling them how oppressive America is. The one last true escape other than old television show as a welcome break from reality, anddddddd it’s gone. No thanks, I’m too exhausted from my daily political forced deepthroating to go through another round.

The military has given millions of dollars to NFL teams since 2011 on flag ceremonies and flyovers and more. Doesn’t seem like that’s an escape from reality that people think the NFL used to be about. Also breast cancer awareness month where all teams wear lots of pink in support for awareness. That’s directly addressing and bringing attention to a serious issue that affects millions of people nation wide.
The NFL has always had outside issues be apart of the game and hasn’t been “only a sport” for decades at this point. The “no longer an escape from reality so I can’t enjoy it” statement is just a bullshit talking point said by snowflakes who let a Reality star have way too much influence on their way of “thinking”.

Lol because breast cancer is such a controversial subject, pretty much the same thing.
The Supreme Court has literally said burning the flag is a protected form of free speech, I think people can get over someone respectfully kneeling instead of standing while someone else sings a song. Jesus H Christ.
I'll take any opportunity available to remind people that Susan G. Komen is a horrible horrible organization. They don't advocate for a cure for breast cancer, they advocate for breast cancer awareness. The entire purpose of the organization is to perpetuate the organization and the salaries of its top staff, to the point that they've trademarked the color pink and have sued other breast cancer charities for using the phrase "for the cure". Donate to any of the charities listed in this article instead.

I think the words of the countless veterans who have come out in support of Colin Kaepernick expressing his freedoms and rights as an American to kneel during the anthem hold more value than that poll of random Americans.
I thought the NFL was “just a sport” and “an escape from reality”? Shouldn’t there be no outside interferences then? What about the people who want to not be constantly reminded of the fact that they have breast cancer and just want to watch a football game? I know two people who hate that month because of the constant reminder of loved ones they’ve lost.
