A 7 day rolling average would pump out a lot of numbers which would need to be refined themselves to get anything meaningful from it.

I can do the percentage difference between the two using 2019 as a population versus 2020 as the deviation, that would be a bit more practical and line graphy.

For giggles I'll throw in a correlation between covid cases and air travel. See if it has any actual effect.
Yeah that sounds good

I mean the blame can run around but when you have shit pilots flying an airplane that requires attention and basic knowledge to operate and they can’t handle runaway trim? Yes the max was flawed and shame on Boeing and the FAA. But, in the instances it happened at SWA and UAL they solved the problem.
I did FDT training on SWA In February and we were in a 800 and he showed me what you would have to do in the max to turn that shit off so it wouldn’t crash. It was literally one switch. Lol

Didn't they blame it on poor training for the pilots on the new aircraft, or was it Boeing lacking the training?

the thing was the pilots didn’t know the MCAS system existed. They thought it was a standard runaway trim situation and took action based on that situation. That is what got Boeing in the most hot water, that in order to Keep the MAX from being a separate type rating they told their customers that it was just like the other 73’s. MCAS wasn’t mentioned in any of the training manuals. Plus you got the changed pitch parameters in the system AFTER it was signed off on.

do you have sources for the SWA/UAL incidents? I had never heard of it happening on a US jet. Curious to read up on it. I mean Southwest’s pilot union filed a lawsuit against Boeing for keeping MCAS secret and putting them in unsafe planes.

Yeah this is right but it was just crazy to me that all you had to do was turn that off and it stopped it. And why didn’t anyone mention that. Crazy.

iirc in the Ethiopia incident they did figure out how to turn it off but the plane had pitched down so much and gained so much airspeed they physically couldn’t pull it out of the dive because of the pressure on the elevator

Yeah that one was under 1000 feet right after takeoff wasnt it? Not much time to react

I did a jumpseat on A United -800. They explained to me the “STAB TRIM” toggle wasn’t even included in preflight checks, or being taught to new pilots. It was buried deep in the CRM, which if you were fighting a plane that wanted to pitch all the way up or down, you weren’t pulling out your iPad and checking.
I talked with a friend after the RPA runaway trim in ATL last year. She explained you had less than 5 seconds to realize the trim was running away to correct it, otherwise it was nearly impossible to fix in air. She said that RPA crew was lucky as shit to walk away

Boeing should probably get ready to write some checks

TSA Screening percentages 2019 vs 2020 as a baseline population.

Percent.png

Covid cases vs TSA screening for 2020, they ended up having a correlation of -.133, so by the math as one increases the other decreases. Subject to other influences as this is what is the actual meaning of correlation =! causation is, not what most people tend to spew out there mouth when they say the cliche.

If you say furlough 3 times in the mirror he might appear.
Speaking of furloughs we good til DEC 11 I didn't see the other thread but the cr went through.

**Looks in mirror**
Furlough, furlough, furlough I quietly whisper in the dark bathroom. I can hear the conjuring spirit. "I toooolllldddd you" it echoes, slowly coming closer.
