But... why not? The entire point of work is to survive. If we didn't have to work to survive and instead wanted to pursue things outside of labor, why is that so terrible?
I'd love to pursue working on being an architect or falconer if money wasn't a factor, my life situation won't allow me to do that unless I become fairly well off. Even then, I'd probably have to decrease my standard of living because those jobs don't pay well on average. Yeah you have jobs that pursue arts/research but those are so bogged down by research grants and the politics of securing more funding that it becomes a game of "who can secure more money" instead of actually trying to discover/create new shit
Yeah I realize that this post-work future won't happen in my lifetime, but isn't the conversation worth having? We probably will have automated garbage trucks, janitors, secretaries, drivers, cooks, and delivery people within our lifetime.
