Hey 2 random questions.
1. What do typical work schedules look like? How many hours per day, and how many days per week, etc?
2. Do any of you commute to work far? Are you able to fly for less?

Oh nice, well typical schedule is 5 days a week for 8 hour days on a rotating start time. Sometimes they change a bit. My next two weeks look like Thursday 230pm, Friday 1230pm, Saturday 730am, Sunday 600am and 1000pm.

Every other week my schedule looks like Thursday 230pm, Friday 1230pm, Saturday 600am and 1000pm, Sunday 1000pm.

My commute is currently 10minutes, I'm moving soon though and plan about 50 minutes.

1. Normally my facility does 2 evening shifts, 2 mornings, 1 mid (if certified) or 2 evenings, 3 days or some variation with 40 hours a week. Though with breaks you might only work an actual 4-5 hrs a day, 6 if youre really unlucky. On Covid schedule we're still 5 on 5 off.

2. I commute about 15-20 mins. Some of my coworkers are 45 mins to an hour away. You don't fly for less, we get no incentives from the airlines.

I’ve been off since March but I’ll give you the breakdown at my old facility.
I was able to snag a 5/10 line with Sun/Mon/every other Tues off.
On my 8 hour week it was 3pm, 1pm 10am, 5am, mid.
On my 10 hour week it was 1pm, 12pm, 10am, 7am. (And my mid rolled into my 3 day weekend. So every other week I was done Saturday morning at 530 and didn’t come back until Wednesday at 1pm)
I had the longest commute of anyone at 1:30 one way

Honestly if you like the country life you will have a commute into any major airport. My place is about 60 miles away from my work be we have 10 acres on riverfront where I can hunt and I wouldnt trade it for a smaller commute under any circumstance.

I suppose it also depends upon your definition of a "major" airport. 10 minutes from DTW you can be on plenty of wooded/farmland acres without a problem. Similar for IND and CLE if they make the cut for your standard of "major".

I loved having a 7 minute commute when I lived in Vegas and a 2 minute commute at my first facility; but now I have a 45 minute commute in order to get the starter house the wife and I wanted and it is definitely too long for my liking and I am looking forward to halving it in maybe 5 years or so when we upgrade our housing.

When is it ever ok to behave like that lol. at least the crazy nevada hillbilly from a few pages ago didn't assault someone and was at least pretending to wear a mask
