Here’s a couple of quotes, with sources, from major airline CEO’s concerning what higher vs lower corporate tax rates means to them, and thus levels of ATC traffic, which is what caught my attention at the time. (These quotes are from approx 2-3 years back when tax cuts came into effect) The Business Journal, FedEx: FedEx was thankful for the passage of new tax legislation, which will modernize the US tax code and increase America’s competitiveness. Fred Smith said the lower taxes will allow airlines to invest more with less risk, stimulating growth. The Street, SW CEO: the lower taxes will provide companies like ours the ability to invest in our business, add jobs, and share those gains with employees and customers. Detroit Free Press, Delta CEO Ed Bastion: we’ll be able to invest in new equipment, new airports, and more airplanes, and it will certainly enable us to pay our people more, while paying down some of our debt. So, I’m just saying going from 21 to 28% Corp tax rates gonna take a bite, affect major airlines, and ATC as a result.Ok. They were buying back stock like crazy right before the pandemic. I'll bet your AG salary they all have their hands out begging for more government handouts in 4 months when this stimmy high runs out and economic realities set in. Sad thing is that they'll get it too, as will everyone else as the politicians move us towards a utopian world where the UBI and government dependency is![]()

Once again, you mistakenly think the corporations actually pay these taxes. Wrong. Any increased cost of doing business (i.e. higher taxes) is passed on to consumers and employees in the forms of higher fares, more fees, reduction in hours worked, increased responsibilities, cuts to benefits, etc... Any attempt to "soak the rich" ALWAYS backfires and ends up on the backs of the working middle class to make up the shortfall, since the poor don't pay taxes either. Put the blame on the buybacks where it actually lies.... with the Fed for enabling them, and every other company to take on debt at artificially low interest rates to finance the buybacks to boost their stonk price.Ok. They were buying back stock like crazy right before the pandemic. I think they’ll be ok.
This is why I have both conservative and liberal mindsets. The liberal side of me thinks taxing the rich more to help the poor sounds like what we need to do, and is a noble cause.Any attempt to "soak the rich" ALWAYS backfires and ends up on the backs of the working middle class to make up the shortfall
Well wtf do you think they’re gonna say? Tax me more? Here’s a couple of quotes, with sources, from major airline CEO’s concerning what higher vs lower corporate tax rates means to them, and thus levels of ATC traffic, which is what caught my attention at the time. Record air travel lol. I just want to fix companies like Amazon paying zero taxes it’s fucking BullshitWtf do You think allowed them to ride that 3 year wave of buying jets, paying out record profit sharing, hiring? It wasn’t higher taxes my friend
Can’t argue w that...record breaking economy, for corps & individuals. And nobody hates Amazon more than me ?Record air travel lol. I just want to fix companies like Amazon paying zero taxes it’s fucking Bullshit
I think there are some slash and burn Brazilian farmers that hate the Amazon more than you. Have you even started a fire (other than your ground training)Can’t argue w that...record breaking economy, for corps & individuals. And nobody hates Amazon more than me ?

Man, that would be ok w me. The rationale for our progressive (punish success) tax structure is that a flat tax would be a disproportionate burden for people w low incomes. The $ owed by them would be smaller, but the effect on their spending power is far greater at that flat rateWho is all for straight across the board 10% tax no deductions? You make 100k, you pay 10k in taxes. Why can’t it be this simple.
Taxing the rich and believing the government would use those tax dollars effectively, I believe that is called doublethink. Hating greedy billionaires for creating McJobs with shit wages and no healthcare or being glad they are employing people and stimulating the economy through this... rock meet hard placeThis is why I have both conservative and liberal mindsets.
Was thinking about this the other day.... here me out. Implement a national sales tax.... say 15% across the board that applies to anyone buying anything. Houses, cars, consumer goods, electric bill. Only a few exceptions, say food, water, medicine. We implement a $150 monthly ubi for every adult, $75 for kids meant to offset taxes on the first 1k of monthly expenses like we have the standard deduction now. No more filing taxes, no more state income taxes (they can adjust their local sales taxes to compensate.) Everyone is treated the same. Now to implement it, I think we turn into a cashless society. I'm hesitant to give the government that much power, but we're headed there anyway whether I like it or not. Going cashless with the usd on the block chain, there's no more tax evasion or cheating. Everyone is equal. Waitresses and strippers can't report only half of their tips. Scummy landlords write off a bunch of bs. Average Joe's can't say they donated 10% of their income to the church unchecked. It's nearly as fair as you can get and it encourages saving, investment, and producing income while discouraging wasteful spending. There might be some kinks to work out and the rates might gave to be adjusted a little, but I think it's a far superior system. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Nah sales tax is already burdensome. If I wanted to save money I’d just start living out in the hills and growing my own food and produce my own power with solar. Then some people wouldn’t pay any. Yeah cars, houses, latest phone would have to pay the sales tax. Why do we classify people who are poor not able to pay a tax everyone else pays the same rate. Yes, I may sound like an ass but if you want more money, work hard, learn study and get a better job.Was thinking about this the other day.... here me out. This is a fake news plan they republicans love. Our system is fine. It’s progressive. Our government wouldn’t even come close to covering expenses in this either.Who is all for straight across the board 10% tax no deductions? You make 100k, you pay 10k in taxes. Why can’t it be this simple.
This plan was brought up by a Democrat. And the 10% would be more than enough to cover. This is a fake news plan they republicans love. Our system is fine. It’s progressive. Our government wouldn’t even come close to covering expenses in this either.
