The woeful unpreparedness of Management

Do your facilities really have that many people that aren't certified on anything??? What does sending the trainees home do... It's like two people where I work. Or do you want to send everyone who isn't a CPC home?

The less people at work the better for everyone!!! We are way past the "that's a scam" phase. Get them all out. Havent you watched all world leadership talk about social distancing? Do u think it's just a joke?

Rumors percolating of virus activity at Denver now. And SLC just got rocked by an earthquake and is closed? Jesus. What a day

Do you WANT extra, unnecessary people at your facility? Do the secretary, training manager, and 3 staff support specialists really need to be there?

Yes. There’s probably 30 upstairs waiting and 3 or so that have no or only D side in my area alone

where in Denver?

I’d love to get involved and help effectuate some change for the better. But you see what you’re up against and that can fade pretty quickly. The disfunction in the agency is deep and decades long, and this situation highlights that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for this job right now. It’s about to be a tough time for a lot of people. But when this is all over, that doesn’t take away from the fact that this job comes with significant upsides and downsides. Jumping ship for something with less pay but with much higher quality of life isn’t an outrageous idea.
I agree with everything you said. Especially the higher quality of life for less pay. Take your pick that’s best for you an your family. It’s just hard for me to stomach that people want change, say they have ideas but then aren’t involved to help what youre admitting is an impossible task, so clearly their help could be used but instead complain and threaten quitting. If you are going to do it then just do it and move out of the way of people who want to stay and try to make the change for everyone. This is not directed at you....if you don’t like management, try it out, if you don’t like union leadership, try it out. Get more involved. How many people voted in the last election of union leadership? It’s pathetic. Can’t affect change if you don’t partake.
You are absolutey right this highlights the inadequacy of the agency, the government and current leadership all around.

Anyone who is not a CPC or if they are developmental, at least a tower CIC is not generally useful and they should be sent home. Staffing controllers only. The first priority is running the NAS. Training isn’t essential to running the NAS. The next priority is facility and controller safety and security. Having the bare minimum number of people there to run things safely should be the enumerated goal.

Wut

Delta just announced 70% flight reductions, up from 40%. They lost 2 Billion dollars in March. Trainees should all be sent home and not be in the building. Why is literally EVERYTHING a knock down drag out 12 round fight w the agency, even for little baby steps. Wake up!
Our airport hasn’t reduced any traffic.... the lowly level 5 towers again not conforming to the standard standards...
