Well, NATCA email just said National Training Initiative and OJTI suspension is extended until May 15 so looks like it’s at least another month to go.
It’s not gonna matter when trump sends us all back. The Faa cant override the president.Well, NATCA email just said National Training Initiative and OJTI suspension is extended until May 15 so looks like it’s at least another month to go.
Has he ever indicated he wants to send federal employees back across the board nation wide? The guidelines they came out with yesterday seemed to make it pretty clear he wants to pass the buck to the Governors, and if anything, it’s going to be regionally based decisions. I can’t see him putting out those guidelines and then just demanding every non-essential worker in the Fed system go back to work immediately. It’s not gonna matter when trump sends us all back. I’m just sayin, I think the way things were handled in yesterday’s announcement made it pretty clear the Administration wants to limit liability 7 months before an election. If POTUS had stuck towards what he was hinting at a few weeks ago with overruling everybody and throwing the floodgates open, it would have looked very bad if things flared back up. Now it’s all on state/local officials to decide how to handle things. If the City of Bumblefuck decides to open and a month later their hospitals are overflowing, it’s on the mayor of that town. It’s a pretty brilliant political move honestly. He’s not going to jeopardize that by saying every federal employee needs to get their butts to work tomorrow.Don't ruin the narrative /s
If I had to guess, I’d bet they’ll just break things down at the Federal level as well. Let each department/agency make their own decisions, and then each of them will probably decide on a case by case basis. I’d assume a lot of those case by case decisions will be made with consideration to what’s going on at each facility’s given location. For example, you could probably send trainees and non essentials back to ZAN a lot earlier than you could ZNY. I just don’t see the decision coming out as a Presidential decree to send every person back at once everywhere. Almost a million Federal employees are considered non-essential. You throw that many people back into society at once and you’re going to see a big spike in cases no matter what. Then that would be 100% on Trump, he’s not going to let that happen. How can state governors send federal employees back? I don’t think a governor can say ok this federal agency that is in ya state can work. Federal employees is the only way he can really “reopen” the economy from his position.
Why would I want to eat an opinion?opinions are like assholes I guess ?♂️
Wrong. It would be Obama’s fault. If I had to guess, I’d bet they’ll just break things down at the Federal level as well. They are going to have to follow the OPM guidance eventually. Lots of states are starting to open. For what it’s worth, I had a phone meeting with my OM the other day and asked the question about training resuming/when developmentals might be brought back. The answer was basically “we have no idea, things are changing every day.”
Also, someone posted on the Reddit forum today that they heard on a telecon that the hold will be extended to June 15 in the coming days. Looks like we’ve still got awhile to go.
Yeah but i wonder what that means for states or cities that wont reopen any time soon like California/nycThey are going to have to follow the OPM guidance eventually. Lots of states are starting to open.
It’s kinda annoying natca hasn’t addressed talking to us about anything. We pay too.Yeah but i wonder what that means for states or cities that wont reopen any time soon like California/nyc
No developmentals at my facility have heard anything from our training rep since the day we left. I think we’ve had 2 emails from our fac rep and then the national NATCA ones that go out to everyone. That’s been our only source of information (outside of forums like this one and Reddit.) It’d certainly be nice to be kept in the loop a little more. It’s kinda annoying natca hasn’t addressed talking to us about anything. We pay too.
Even if they just said we don’t know. It would be nice to get a direct communication. No developmentals at my facility have heard anything from our training rep since the day we left. You guys have an actually natca training rep?Agreed. I’m really wondering what the point of having a training rep is if literally none of the trainees have even heard from them during this whole situation.
Crazy. That’s the job of the training OM and then our president just comes in and gets you to join.Yes. Although trainees really never even see him. He stops by the study room once or twice a month or when a new person shows up to try and get them to join the union. That’s about it though.
The job is essential though, trainee or CPC, so state or city guidance really isn’t a factor.Yeah but i wonder what that means for states or cities that wont reopen any time soon like California/nyc
