Training hold

If you read the comment that was from a supervisor. That’s why trainees can’t have nice things.

I read the comment. I'm making an assumption it started from NATCA and made its way to the sup, because I don't believe sups actually come up with the dumb things they usually say on their own.

Here’s an update...
Tech Ops moved scopes, from the radar room to the now permanently locked ETG lab, so that we wouldn’t have to go ATC-0, in the event that the facility needs another COVID-19 cleaning. They would most likely be used, on the mid, while a facility cleaning occurs. You trainees aren’t coming back for awhile.

whelp that's that. Stinger lock it up! (PS thanks to the greatest mod CF for teaching me how to @ 'username' people)

I’m normally here to antagonize you entitled trainees (sarcasm) but I honestly think you poor bastards are fucked. I asked my FLM why they scheduled trainees only to remove them a few days later. He said “they were supposed to come back but not anymore.” I asked what the hell is the roadblock and he mentioned “liability concerns.” Take that with a grain of salt, this is a supervisor after all. He could be talking out his ass for all I know.

Conversation with my VP and he shared my sentiment, “those poor bastards are fucked and National is giving zero guidance.” There seems to be an unwillingness to communicate between the numerous layers of gov’t bureaucracy. This is all the hearsay I have but all indications are pointing to an endless holding pattern.
I just want to finish. 30 hours from CPC on the last sector. Call me entitled.

Myself and a dude in the area next to me were supoosed to have checkrides on our respective last sectors the day they shut all training down. I’m with you, after all this time I just want to be done.

don't be surprised when you get to start over on those sectors... sims and all.

Another thing to consider, if this drags on much longer and you’re likely to see some of the newer developmentals start to quit. I know at least 2 people personally who took a big pay cut to pursue ATC and they’ve been stuck on AG pay. Both have said if we hit the 6 month mark, they’re going to pursue returning to their old jobs.

if they even can get their old jobs. They may as well ride it out and try to get their old jobs anyways, especially after a few weeks when zoom content dries up entirely.
This is also zero incentive for natca or the FAA to do much considering there is always a stream of people lined up at the door to come in ...sucks but that’s the reality.

True, but these were people already 6 months into their facility training. They leave and the people lined up at the door need to go through the 1-3+ year hiring process, the Academy, and then initial classes at the facility to make up for those who left. It would only make the backlog and staffing worse. Both the people I know worked in what would be considered “essential” fields as well which is why they’re really tempted to go back to making $80K right now vs being trapped at $47K for whoever knows how much longer. Probably years at this rate.

You don’t sim on every sector before you train on it. Each area has a training sector for the lab. You pass your evals on that one, then you go to the floor, and move from sector to sector. Since they called us back and had us recertify before the 120 mark, we won’t have to go back to the sims. I don’t doubt we’d have to start over on hours on our current sector though.

I don’t know if that’s true. The amount of people in each bid seems to be getting lower and lower for qualified applicants.
