Training hold

So for people still Zooming every day, how has it evolved at your facility? Ours is a complete joke at this point. It’s the instructors rambling about non ATC related topics or watching YouTube videos we’ve all seen a dozen times already. They pretty much go the full 4 hours every day because they’re scared someone will care if they end it early, but won’t care if they just BS the entire time.
Ours went from 2 hour long sessions per day, 5 days a week to a single 30 minute class 2 days a week where we cover something we've talked about 100 times. Unfortunately there is only so much you can go over via zoom before it falls on the trainee or actual OJT

I’d honestly rather sit on zoom for 4 hours, than go in and just sit there to not train. Can’t train on 5/5 or until we’re yellow/green, but you sure can work a foot away from someone! Makes perfect sense.

Pretty sure facilities have been training while on 5/5. Good luck with the gating criteria ?

We’re running sim problems with an instructor and an rpo. Huge improvement compared to going through the same powerpoints over and over again.

Is that we’re recalled before we lapsed can train but it seems like the guys that just got recalled have to wait for the gate which is never going to come

Are they even using the gating criteria? I’m hearing of facilities training when they’ve been in the red for two weeks or more.
People who started training with the wave in September are good to go. Everyone else is supposed to wait for the gating criteria. Maybe those early returned training is what you’re hearing about.

All the trainees who started in Sept at my K never left the building as they were deemed “essential”.

All the ones who were brought back to assist with staffing this month to stay on 5/5 are not allowed to train until we hit the gating criteria.

Some facilities are still training? Our email made it sound like a national directive. I'm literally a couple hours from CPC and paused until who knows when now...
That sucks. Definitely still people training and getting CPC. Seems like it depends on the facility, not even region specific.

It seems like if you have an ATM/training manager that is motivated to train then they can finesse the guidance to make training happen. If they don’t give a shit, at least at the moment, they can basically stop/bog down training.

Who has finessed if? Either you came back earlier or you game back after the gating. Or you lived in a unicorn county and came back

Big brain time, think outside of your center.

Just look through this thread and see how many different responses people have posted based on the guidance.

- Some places don’t have the labs open so they can’t start classes
- Some places are only allowing 2 ppl per area to be training at a time some places are allowing 6 ppl per area to train. Maybe one person in the cab and one person downstairs.
- Some places are on 5/5 and are getting people 1 hour on position a week for training
- Some places didn’t recall trainees until the national guidance last week and now those people can’t train cause of rona
