Astute observation. Public perception is everything but most "normal" people do not understand the stressors or what the job even entails. You are right though, once glance at the salary and they lose all sympathy with those "over worked" who just "sit in chairs all day."

"I heard those guys get to sleep on the job. Screw them"

Job action! Illegal.
Not taking overtime because I'm fatigued, not illegal. Calling in sick, not illegal. The only thing that would classify any of that as a job action and make it illegal would be if it was coordinated and they could prove it was coordinated. If they can't prove it they can think it was coordinated all day long but it's not illegal

Oh I know. To change hearts and minds would require a long and thorough public relations campaign.
Sadly I don’t think it would work.

The average person is so dumb, and everyone hates govnt workers already it seems.

Would take a magnificent PR campaign and a once in a lifetime orator who advocates on behalf of the union

ok, but you better be careful of who you discuss this with and who you email and where you meet to coordinate with. I think you will find that it is not hard to discover the coordination required for a "sick out". And a one-time mass "calling in sick" is not going to accomplish anything. Do you think that would get the FAA to address facility manning?

I'm still very surprised how the vote is split only by 4. Hmmm, did the FAA send a bunch of management folks here to vote?

Fake votes!? Voters' fraud!?

Guys, give it up. Everyone is living paycheck to paycheck underpaid. They couldn’t not get paid even if they wanted to do it. This is an exercise in stupidity

If you were able to take a truly anonymous poll, the results would probably be different. I guarantee you there are people who feel a certain way who don’t want to answer even a hypothetical question with an internet account that could easily be connected to them.
