Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-21-ATCEXP-71144

The same can say about the academy. If you get a center slot you have a fairly high chance of making it through. Especially if you're prior experience.
“fairly high chance” is a stretch and why would you ever risk getting fired from the academy. You could be a fucking bad ass and have a bad day and you’re gone. We’ve all seen it happen.

So, what happens if they suspend training again? If you haven't received a date, are you just in limbo waiting until they resume training?

The same exact fairly high chance can be used for washing at a facility lol. Facility training is more difficult than academy but more "realistic " if you wanna call it, aka someone is more likely to look the other way on a squeeze play than at the academy. That being said. I'm just saying if your dreams are a Z, the academy isn't that bad of a way to go. All the "bads" of the academy can pretty much be said for a dumpy level 5 with an old sup who does it "his way".

The chances of everything working out in your favor at the academy isn’t nearly as likely as a prior experience bid. First you have to worry about passing the academy, then you have to get lucky and get a Center on the very limited list of facilities they give you, then you need to have scored as one of the top in your class to even have the option to pick a Center. Get your foot in the door at a facility, then in 2 years you can transfer to an ARTCC of your choosing instead of hoping for the best at the academy. It doesn’t make any sense to apply for an off the street bid if you’ve already received a TOL from a prior experience bid.

Classes at the Academy are either terminal or enroute. If you got enroute and passed the Academy you'd be going to a center even if you were dead last in your class.

I’ve never seen more than 3 center slots on an academy graduate list. Regardless, it still doesn’t make any sense to apply for an academy bid when you’re about to get placed into a facility from a prior experience bid. There’s a lot more luck involved and hoping the stars align when you go to the academy. But hey what do I know. If you want to graduate the academy at the same time everyone from this bid is making CPC at their first facility, in hopes you’ll get a center, be my guest.

Yeah there’s different ways of looking at it I guess. People can do whatever works best for them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the FAA doesn’t see anything but FAA center experience as valid for centers right? So you’d have to be a prior center cpc to even get a center?

An enroute class will only have center assignments on their graduate list. I'm not sure what you're referencing.

Back in the day when TOL's told you your track (enroute/terminal) ahead of time, I knew many people who applied to both prior exp and OTS bids, and just accepted the OTS TOL if it was enroute. Everyone I know who did that are CPC's at a center now and happy with their decision.

Can't tell if you're trolling or if you just don't actually know. Either way. I'm so sorry.

I had 2 friends who recently got out of the military, both with tower only experience. They got cpc at a level 6 and level 8 tower respectively, then both transferred to a center in less than 2 years. But like I said, what do I know. If someone would like to wait another year to get into the FAA, and take their chances at the academy on the off chance their contract says “en route”, be my guest.
