Paid Parental Leave

Even still, it’s not hard to accumulate a solid leave cushion. We all earn about 3 weeks of SL every year. The problem is, too many people want to abuse it and then want a different form of leave/excused absence when something actually happens.
I had annual leave stacked up and used 10 days. I’m not arguing the AL part. All I’m saying is it’s trash that we don’t even get 1 EA day for a funeral. Especially when the agency and natca boasts about mental awareness and all that propaganda

Yeah I know how tough losing a family member can be, but honestly, if you’ve been in the agency for more than a couple years and don’t have the ability to take a week or two off without burning all of your leave, that’s really your own doing. Especially after nearly a year of reduced staffing schedules, everyone should have plenty of AL and SL.
Lol

I’m willing to bet they don’t get 20-30+ vacation days and 14+ sick days a year either
Haha you should check out some of the benefit packages non-gov jobs have. FAA isn’t superior like you think it is.

This is still going away from what I’ve been bitching about and that’s the fact we get EA for a lot of BS (Covid) and not even one day for real life events like a funeral. I get EA for boosters though that’s what really matters!

And also it’s ok to say yeah your right. We should get at least 1 day of EA for a funeral and not immediately point fingers to “yeah you should have leave stacked up blah blah blah”. Im not surprised that’s the response though.

You do get excused absence though if your facility approves it, why’d yours make you burn annual?

Because it states it’s only for military members who pass away in combat. I’m not blaming my facility just blaming natca and FAA overall

Is there special paperwork to file to use article 30 leave for child birth? I'm trying to save my 3 month leave for when my wife's runs out and I believe I can use article 30 instead. One supervisor said to file FMLA for both but I thought FMLA was 3 months total. Also Paid Parental Leave and FMLA are basically the same thing now right?

If I understand it correctly, if you don’t take a day of baby leave, then 6 months later, you can use 3 months straight and they can deny it

I am delaying my PPL right now until my wife's leave is up. I am also taking a total of 6 weeks FMLA I had saved up. My ATM has no issue with it but I made sure to email exactly what my plan was and that I am not taking PPL right away. Clear dates with what leave is being used is key.

I used article 30 for a baby born last month. All I had to do was sign a piece of paper management printed out that said I was requesting to use article 30 and then a leave request form with the dates, I think. I also split my PPL taking part now and the rest when my wife goes back to work. It should be pretty easy and hassle free.

Didn't really know where to ask this but do you earn annual/sick leave while in annual/sick/ppl?

Do you still get holiday pay while out for article 30? I’m planning on using like 2 weeks of it around a holiday and getting the holiday pay might change the day i start.

They don’t charge your PPL balance and give you holiday leave. For me, Christmas was holiday on Sunday, instead of a full 80 for PPL, the charged 72 and gave me 8 holiday. Worked for me. This agency is YMMV though. Didn’t get double pay.

Yea for me the holiday is on an RDO so hoping they don’t fuck me

Yes. For thanksgiving I had RDO Thursday. In lieu of day was changed to holiday leave. Not PPL. On employee express it tells you how much “family leave” you have remaining as well

Two things to note:

You can't get paid for a holiday that you don't work.

If you take your PPL in full in one go, you just take 12 weeks. If you split it up, they count down hours and you aren't counted for holidays.

Holidays for 12 weeks straight too. You still get 480 hours. Use em or lose em

I'm going through my pay stubs now because I've supposedly ran out earlier than I thought. My pay stubs show 400 hours, I think my facility messed up. Also are holidays in that timeframe just holiday leave?

Mine too. Says 440 currently so I’m going to look into it. Holidays are coded holiday leave

I used some as well, and if it was your workday for holiday or in lieu of, you get holiday instead of baby leave and have extra hours. They finally fixed my leave and showing correct balance. Come on summer!
