Contract tower upgraded to FAA

Does IWA have two LC positions? When I started at HWO, we were allotted 8+atm and by the time I left we got that increased to 10+atm. They’re also open 0500-0000 and we were open 0700-2100 so + 5 hours on us. Can’t possibly see how you can run the facility with 6 bodies fully staffed.

Don’t quote me on hours, I just pulled that from airnav

I think the problem is finding enough people willing to work there and of those, ones that are able to certify. I’m sure it’s a revolving door bc you work yourself to death for pretty shit pay given alternatives.

I mean as much as I disliked my contract tower... The pay isn't *that* bad...... Especially if you're that short and pulling all that OT

Oh dude I’ve made 120 for a handful of years now. The issue, however, is I’ve made that both doing 1,000+ ops a day and 50 ops a day with no discretion between the two. So there was no incentive to stay at the busy facility when I could make the same at the slow tower.

I make 6 figures now, and maybe do COMBINED tower and radar 50k ops. I totally get it lol

I think our actual daily average comes out to be around 75 ops a day. So still less than 30k annually. Annually, my pay this year is about roughly $2k less than when we were doing 300k ops at HWO lol moving was a no brainer. These companies do nothing to incentivize working at the busy places and get confused why their staffing is so bad there.

Where you at working less than 30k a year and making 6 figures? Yall have openings? ?

Perpetually… ? STX down in the Virgin Islands lol which is why we always have openings. Pay is right around $40/hr plus $5,000 annual cola (should be increased but that’s a fight NATCA doesn’t seem to care to fight), and I cash out my H&W because I have VA healthcare and CI2 doesn’t require you to invest it into a company sponsored 401k like Serco. But it takes a village to convince someone to move all the way out to an island, despite common belief lol

No... Not really. Just depends where ya go. 6 figures at DOD isn't unheard of and fairly common. Especially if we get this additional 10% soon.
Well compared to where I’m at. It took me 22 hours to get home for the holidays. Only 2 flights stateside a day and they both leave at around 5pm lol

Yeah... Well I suppose that makes sense if you're not stateside... DOD facilities arent too bad to come by. IDK. Feel like living in WY? Apply to Cheyenne.

I was in Idaho Falls for a short stint. Beautiful place but at 24 and single, it wasn’t the most friendly location. I put in for the Duke Field position in Destin, FL. Didn’t get picked up for it ?

Isnt idaho falls contract?
Yeah, another place that does about 25k ops. Serco tower so pay was exponentially worse but wasn’t terrible for the area. Could be in Jackson in about an hour and a half depending on the season, see the Tetons from our tower, but I was paying $800 a month for a brand new 2bd/2ba apartment with utilities and cable/internet included. Couldn’t find a rental in Jackson for less than 2-3k. Could go rock climbing, skiing, off-roading without paying Jackson prices which was nice. 4/10 schedule.
