Then pay should be done by area and not whole facility as well. You are either equal with your coworkers or you aren't. Can't pick and choose which numbers to use when.
I don’t get to work the other areas OT. My area barely has any OT. Why are they allowed to make so much more? Also they def use area staffing when they decide releases for all these sup bids

If they really wanted to prioritize career progression, this is what the rules should be:

Round 1:
  • Releasing facility must be a Level 4 through Level 7
  • Releasing facility must be at or above 85% current % CPC to Target and at or above 85% Projected % to Target
  • Releases stop when the releasing facility drops below 85% Current or Projected % to Target
  • Gaining facility must be Level 8 or 9
  • Gaining facility may select up to 100% Projected % to Target
  • Order of gaining facilities determined by decision lens tool
Round 2:
  • Releasing facility must be a Level 8 or higher
  • Releasing facility must be at or above 85% current % CPC to Target and at or above 85% Projected % to Target
  • Releases stop when the releasing facility drops below 85% Current or Projected % to Target
  • Gaining facility must be below 90% Projected % to Target
  • Gaining facility may select up to 100% projected % to target (max 5 selections per facility)
  • Order of gaining facilities will be determined by decision lens tool
This would be painfully restrictive. There is nothing wrong with a Level 4-7 controller bidding to a level 10-12. The vast majority of high level tower pickups have come from 4-7s. Also why would you want to block a Level 4-7 controller from going to another Level 4-7 facility?

Sounds good to me. I see no reason why another areas shitty training culture that I have no control over should affect my areas ability to release.

The funny thing is that the two worst staffed areas in my building are also the two areas with the lowest traffic counts.

Good catch on the last part… just an oversight. There’s nothing saying a 4-7 won’t certify at high level facilities but training percentages don’t lie. The 8-9’s don’t really have a good way to get staffing other than through NCEPT. Centers at least get academy grads. High level TRACONs would be filled with 8’s and higher to improve training success rates.

Fix the terminal training so AGs can certify. Or have a system in OKC were too students can qualify for higher level

They tried sending AG’s to higher level terminals before but stopped because it got too expensive to send them there only to wash out.
Yah but did they like do anything to get a better outcome or just give up? The way they assign facilities doesn’t take into account how anyone actually did

Not anymore. We just let tracons selected lever 4 and 5 VFR tower controllers via NCEPT then after the tracpn waits six to 12 months to get their new CPC-IT they wait another four to six months for them to get an OKC class date and go down there and come back....
yikes

Our local estimated my Z being eligible to release in 3 to 4 years about 2 months ago. The past few weeks alone we’ve had 8 trainees wash/withdraw. Additionally the union is hoping our staffing numbers increase by 10.

I’ve accepted that to get remotely close to where I want to be and back to family I’m gonna have to go the sup route. Sucks but it is what it is.
I’m at a low level facility and I’ve come to this realization as well. I’m tired of telling my wife and family maybe one day…

I didn't even bother calling DFW since I figured they wouldn't pick up anyone any time soon. Holy shit what a missed opportunity.

I’m all for prioritizing 8’s and 9’s in the first round. The issue is blocking 4-7’s from going to high level facilities. I’m at a core-30 and only 2 of our last 15 selections have 8 or higher experience. A rule like that would cripple our pipeline
