2 Jets collide at HOU. What happened?

LOL

Yup! Let's request another $105BB, and combine it all to Ukraine War (61.4%), Israel War (14.3%), Border War (13.6%), Indo-Pacific War (7.4%), and a little more "humanitarian aid" to all of the places mentioned.

Everyone gets a war!

Also note that the funding for the "Border War" portion will fund ICE (the sole agency that does is supposed to do deportations). Now, it won't be funding ICE to do deportations, it will fund them to speed up "asylum applications" and to provide travel throughout the USA.

Statists, please come and defend this.

This incident wasn’t because of controller error?

Arguing that the controller isn't at fault for not watching his landing traffic touch down is a weird hill to die on. Especially because if you actually looked up to see the aircraft touchdown you would likely see the departure rolling out in your peripheral. The layout of the runways gave LC plenty of time to stop that departure. Some how they never saw it.

VISUALLY SCANNING RUNWAYS
  1. Local controllers must visually scan runways to the maximum extent possible.

Agree with above. Scanning runways is your job. Also, catching a bad readback is your job. A lot of the job is babysitting and catching pilot errors. If I let every bad readback go unfixed I for sure would have multiple NMACs or worse in my career. Even with a correct readback pilots do crazy shit unexpectedly.

That being said, agree with the positive statements earlier that it sounds like the guy provided decent service after the event happened to help get the guy back on the ground safely.

We saw the report on the incident this morning in the tower on a ATSAP thing,

Local CPC put 9AA in LUAW on 22, saw him roll, told him to stop twice, and then you hear the audio "we just had a midair"

It was also noted that traffic was not exchanged between the citation and hawker when LUAW was utilized.

You can’t make a plane stop you can only tell them to stop. Which he did.

The more info that comes out the more your jumping to conclusions ages worse than milk. Love how quickly you’re willing to jump all over your fellow controllers though. Hope nothing ever happens on your watch. There but for the grace of god etc etc.

Once again everything that we have seen regarding this incident tells us the controller did nothing wrong and handled an unusual situation very well. You sound like you will be a great OM one day.

He always does this. He hates controllers, hates NATCA, hates everyone except supervisors and Mayor Pete 💙

I love how everyone here wants to act like LC wasn't a contributing factor. Seems if he had used proper phraseology the departing aircraft would have known someone was landing on the intersecting runway.

But we can defend the dude all day long. It's ok he wasn't a contributing factor at all /s.

I just enjoy stirring the shit. Same people want to constantly ask for raises, well do your fucking job properly. Stop making the news every other week. This career field thinks it's owed something just because you've failed to actually kill people in awhile.

I’ve worked at 11s and 12s for 14 years and never had a deal, brotha 😎. I give people their in trail and hardly apreq anything, save for medevacs going direct. I’m not the one to be lectured; I want this profession to be great, but I do indeed do my fucking job properly and I take pride in that

I've met a lot of people who say this but are just blissfully ignorant of having deals. May QC have mercy on your soul and these remaining years.

What Covfefe IV is getting at is - if we have a "nobody died, good enough" attitude, then maybe we shouldn't expect a "how can we do better" attitude on our paycheck?

Plenty of situations happen where there's no pilot phone call, no QC analysis, but I think to myself - I could have done a lot better. You don't need to defend every action from every controller all the time. And even if there is things this guy could have done better in this situation, that doesn't mean he isn't a solid controller. It's just healthy to look at how to improve yourself and try to create better outcomes in the future. Especially when we see outcomes like this.

Shrug, I have current and former coworkers on this site with my identity known. I don’t see anyone calling me out, brother 😊. Dunno how long you’ve been in as I know there’s a lot of zoomers on this site, but the snitch and “deal board” existed in the beginning of my career….so yes, I would’ve known

It's not worth the FAAs time to look at a bunch of 2.9 mile deals so you wouldn't hear about it. Doesn't mean you didn't bust. And incorrect application of visual separation is incredibly common but requires someone to actually go through tapes but there's enough <66% of appropriate separation deals to keep QC busy. Definitely possible you've never had a deal. Just like it's possible you've never been late to take position. Just gets less and less likely after you've been working for a decade or two.

What point are you exactly trying to make again? You’re talking what if’s, and possibilities??? You’re so mad I can say I’ve never had a deal that you’re trying to make up scenarios? 😂. It’s ok if youve had a deal. I’m not trying to say I’m better than anyone else. It’s just important to understand that there are a lot of good controllers out there who are absolutely deserving of more pay. 😊
