Holding Controllers Accountable

After reading all replies I couldn’t come up with a workable solution. I took it into my own hands and told the 3 worst controllers (who happen to be the highest paid) that they are terrible and they should retire for the safety of the NAS or at least try and get a desk job upstairs. I then proceeded to tell our newest CPC who takes every break that he shouldn’t have been checked out in the first place. This all resulted in a private discussion with my supervisor about my behavior which I replied that his willingness to turn a blind eye to incompetents shines a spotlight on his weak character. My poor choice of words led me to be written up by the OM who stated I was harassing the controllers in my area and I have been pulled from the floor until further review from professional standards. I said I was willing to show her Falcon of scenarios of each of those controllers that proves they should no longer be on the floor which she replied “I don’t care, your lack of professionalism trumps what you deem unsafe.”

Smitty you can call it WOKE. I call it SOFT. FAA has become SOFT. We aren’t a Fortune 500 company that makes widgets with the need to abide by new workplace standards for public perception. This job is sink or swim. The flying public doesn’t give a shit about how toxic our work environment as long as we get them to their destination safely. With the new culture we have put more emphasis on feelings over safety. Nothing more to say. There is no solution.

No idea if this is sarcasm or not. But it’s 100% true. Society, our agency, and our union has put feelings over facts. Can’t wait to file my atsap that said my deal was caused because my feelings were hurt.

Public shaming for deals. Voice falcons with their operating initials in briefings. The people that I see have deals on a regular basis hide them or use the atsap get out of jail free card. They don’t even watch the tape 99% of the time.

Right.
Maybe we should be using atsap to report on fatigue and staffing issues daily and let them make it on the Top 5!

A few of us have doing that for a while at mine. People forget that ATSAP is about safety issues, not just deals.
Multiple people at my facility had been submitting atsaps for staffing issues/OT/fatigue for months. & I shit you not, one of my coworkers ends up getting a call from one of the atsap people saying there's nothing they can do about the staffing & issues from it and they basically tried to discourage him from submitting more reports regarding it. I figured it was a good paper trail to leave but if nothing's being done about it then what's the point

Keep sending more atsaps Andy Dufresne style until they beg uncle.

There's almost always something that can be done. Saturated sectors that can't be split because there are no bodies left can be fixed by slowing everything down, including MIT, GDPs, a GS, but won't be done because "staffing" can't be an issue (at least to the public). Keep filing the ATSAPs because it is a safety issue.

Assuming there was at least one other person in the AUS tower, sounds like we need to amp up our CIC standards as well.
A-lot of people don't take CIC seriously enough. They just collect the extra pay and see it as a break. We have to change this culture. We need to be proud of what we do and service that we provide to this great nation.
