For the record, under the Trump administration, we *were* required to wear masks in the workplace. Between that and 5/5 or 5/10, it seems his administration thought the CDC was onto something.

Reality is, Covid was a real thing. Killed about 1% of people who got it.

Whether anyone thinks that's bad or not... whatever.

But I am confident that those who came out swinging "you're all a bunch of sheep" would've kept their tune if the mortality rate was 15 times higher.

Remember - if you got hit by a bus and tested positive for COVID-19 - the cause of death was COVID-19. The statistics were BS to serve political and financial ends.

Had it been 15 times deadlier, it would have burned out right quick.

I'm curious how many controllers successfully avoided getting the vaccine against their will without the use of a reasonable accommodation. It honestly can't be very many at all.

I know a few (religious exemption mostly, and they were VERY religious), to be fair (personal opinion here) I wish I had not but I cannot afford to NOT have health insurance. The issues related to the heart I find troubling...

The devil is in the details. I was quite comfortable not getting the shot and I wasn't worried about getting fired. I did spend some serious time doing my homework.

Well I was but I have health issues and personally I cannot afford to lose my job. The insurance company billed the government almost 1.5 mil this year alone.

I am not an "anti-vaxxer" by any means, but I found the vitriol from both sides of the issue to be abhorrent. If I make a decision about my health, it is mine to make, ergo a basic human right regardless. Now we can throw in the history of vaccines and take it as a black and white issue, but I made a choice not to play job jeopardy and given the fact I might have to see a cardiologist now just seems rather suspicious.

Top marks for this comment. It's like the trident of remarks. 3 prongs.... 1. Likely true, 2. Likely to be part of the messaging to downplay it and shun government recommendations. 3. Completely avoids the underlying point I made that (in my opinion) no matter how deadly the disease, the messaging from the right was going to be the same--- namely that masks and vaccines and social distancing were for sheep, and all you needed was some Vitamin D.

As to the statistics being fudged because of financial/political interests, my 1% figure was citing global reporting from 170+ countries. Taking the U.S out of the picture doesn't change the number. So unless you think they all were working for the dems or something and all were getting cash under the table and all were reporting the same way (basically a global conspiracy at that point), it's not a rational conclusion that the statistics are anything other than primarily based on the realities of covid mortality.

Excess mortality tables don't support your theory, either.
