Trump Proposes No Tax on Overtime

Because it doesn’t fund the government and is a huge tax cut for zillionaires 😁

It would be a huge tax cut for everyone you, absolute dunce. I swear only an idiot like you could find a way to be upset about the fantasy of no income tax.

You know what would be nice? Adjusting down the hundreds of billions in wasteful spending instead of taxing people into oblivion to fund the wasteful spending. I vote for Warren Buffet's idea... "Anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election."

It wouldn’t be a huge tax cut for everyone you absolute dunce. It would be a huge tax increase for poor people.

Only an idiot like think the country could function on a 10% sales tax

And none of these people would be on government assistance programs, which pay for food or housing or medical care?
Probably not since you just destroyed the countries revenue with this plan. Do you think poor people just get everything for free?

What percentage of Americans do you think don’t pay income tax?

I'm curious how many controllers successfully avoided getting the vaccine against their will without the use of a reasonable accommodation. It honestly can't be very many at all.
I didn't get the vax. There was at least 1 other at my small facility that didn't either. There was at least 3 that didn't get it at the neighboring facility of 22. I did submit an RA but from my understanding the FAA didn't address any RAs.

There was a "deadline" given but they kicked the can two times before the injunction.

Each time the deadline was "delayed" natca didn't say a thing. That was the final straw for me and haven't paid dues since.

I’m really surprised there hasn’t been a lawsuit for all the federal employees forced to get the vaccine to retain their jobs only for them to subsequently drop it altogether. To top it off Natca was mocking members who didn’t want to get it. Calling them degenerates at Natca events etc. very disappointing.

I mean what would your damages be?

Same. I did not get it either and never tried to submit the RA. I was ready to die on that hill. From what I understand based on some personal contacts, the agency was so backed up with reasonable accommodations, it wasn't even feasible to address them one way or the other within the deadlines.

Poor people currently aren’t paying income tax and they have to spend every dollar they ever make on buying necessities
Sounds like they need to pay their fair share.

What percentage of Americans do you think don’t pay income tax?
Around 40% of people pay no federal income tax.
The top 50% of tax payers pay over 97% of all taxes.

Yup. I’m not debating those facts. I’m just pointing out that a flat tax is a tax cut for rich people and a tax increase for poor people. Tons of retired people pay no income tax and y’all want to hit them with a huge sales tax. Make it make sense. Prolly the same people wanting this are saving to a ROTH tsp lol

I think you know I mean this in good faith, but honest to God, how? By no means am I an economic expert but I am interested in your perspective.

You pay a consumption tax on gas, food (in some places), basic necessities, etc...

Because a large portion of the population currently pays no federal income tax. Sales taxes are regressive. Income tax is progressive.

You and I would probably pay less tax sure. But some retired grandma would pay more.

How about a middle ground? Cut federal income taxes by at least 50% and distribute the difference by adjusting tariffs, excise taxes, and corporate taxes. I guess what I'm getting at is the following: What is an ideal tax solution in your eyes? The more successful one is, the more we punish you with taxes?

Im more into things that keep the money moving in the economy. Not having a small amount of people hoarding things (including cash). A poor person is already putting all their money back into the economy.

A mega rich is off shoring and doing all sorts of bullshit to park money or buy assets that just sit there and do nothing.

So ideally you’d have mechanisms that would promote rich people and especially corporations from spending their money constructively. Like if you do a stock buy back you get taxed a lot. If you increase wages and build more factories and create more jobs then those would be business expenses and you could write them off against your profit.

I think every American should have the right to own 2-3 houses properties. After that type gotta start jacking up the taxes so
You don’t wind up with corporations owning thousands of single family homes. Shit like that. Idk. What do you think?

Also to add we are in this like FICA Goldilocks zone where we make just enough to get a big benefit from the FICA cap. But on the flip side you got social security that is on the brink and you got folks making millions who are just exempt After 160k or whatever. That’s crazy.

I’m not a huge fan of terrifs. Unless the other country is competing in bad faith. It’s just another tax on everyday Americans purchases which would effect poorer people
More. Its like. VAT in Europe. It makes everything so
Expensive.

To summarize I don’t care what you believe in for
Your dream tax scenario i just dont like when people say something as basic as a 10% flat tax is a tax cut for everyone because its not

I can’t believe you got me to write that much

Don't forget that the time period people think America was better was when the top tax rate was in the 70s percentage wise. Walmart exploits people and you guys sit here and think the Walmart workers should pay the same tax rate as the Walton family. While also believing they should cut benefits. You guys would have licked the boot of the kings so hard if you were alive back then. Yes m'lord you deserve so much more please trample harder

How about no income tax at all and we just go to basic consumption tax or a combination of a flat tax (5-10%) and a consumption tax?
That’s a good way to increase taxes on the poor and middle class while giving huge tax breaks to millionaires & billionaires.
