It's Over (Finally)

Nick and Joel told the Natca academy classes going on this week they need to “temper their expectations” on a raise because the median salary for air traffic controllers is 200,000$ so asking for more isn’t really in the cards.

Source is people that were in the class.

Also interesting nick is already travelling on Natca’s dime and not asking Mick to go.
When nick, Jamal, and Joel came to my facility to campaign they kept saying that most of us are capped out. I have one person in my area that is at the cap. They be trippin. FAA just published saying 158k is the average CPC pay.

Messed up thing is $158k is probably based off working 6 days a week and all the OT…nobody is making that at an 8 or below without OT (unless in a high COLA area). Just like they are hiring another 3000 controllers next year but fail to mention between resignations/retirements we will be lucky to have a net gain of 300 🙄

Maybe out of solidarity they collaborated to travel separately to avoid lover's quarrels?

On a separate note, I wonder if there is going to be a coup.

There's two levels of audacity to the statement, but I also have to give two levels of benefit of the doubt... not only that they said it, but that they specifically said "salary".

Anyway, assuming it's true (any of it), I just hope Nick and Joel will "temper their expectations" about people staying in the union.

We’re so fucked.

I hope they told this to a terminal class with kids that are gonna get stuck in the middle of nowhere making less than $100k their entire career with no chance of ever making it to a higher level facility.

The fed cap is such a lousy excuse to not seek a pay raise. Obviously I want every controller to see huge gains but we can still get levels 4-10 or 11 a big pay raise even if it means the “near cap” controllers don’t get as big of a raise.

If the way things continue you’re going to have more financially strained controllers working 6 days a week… what do you think that will do for the safety of the NAS?

Also, we are the lowest staffed we’ve ever been, traffic is reaching all time highs in many parts of the country, and it is not a quick fix to add staffing (hiring and training process takes years to complete). If we cannot get a decent or just raise with all of this going on then we will NEVER get a decent or just raise ever again. And then NATCA should be decertified.

I don’t believe any of the BS that the public wouldn’t be in our favor for a raise. It’s not like it’s money spent on foreign wars and bullshit. We could do an easy job explaining how our industry is under duress and why a pay raise is a no brainer.

Nick and Jamaal claimed our raises would mostly be through differentials and not base pay when they visited my facility. Rich Santa on the other hand was saying that we would get more than most expect. People can hate Santa all they want but you're about to find out how bad it can get. Can't wait for Nick to extend.

Nick still hasn't sent out an e-mail, updated his campaign page, made a video about winning. Looking forward to the Day 1 pay raise promised by Nick on November 4th.

You mean the terminal kids that go to tower only and can transfer within 6 months. Are you ok?
A lot of them go to mid-level up/downs.

NATCA leadership only cares about level 10-12.

They mostly seem to care about ZNY / ZDC. I would have said N90 but they didn't stop the move. A80/C90/ZJX possibly since they got special hiring bids.

The issue with NATCA is it's easier to answer to a few big facilities because they have hundreds of controllers versus all the towers with less than 30-40. Tower controllers have to commute a lot farther for less pay or live in higher costing areas than most center controllers.

The only tower that NATCA has helped is JFK. Everyone else is getting shafted.

The problem is most of the natca people want to make a career out of it and they refuse to rock the boat from their smaller facility. The other big problem is people in the first half of their career now getting involved at all

Quickest way to get on the NATCA Shit list is to speak up against anything that the Reps want.

And then they'll turn around and tell you that if you dont like it, to get involved. When if you run and lose, theyll go out of their way to treat you like garbage. Look at Zilonis/Gaffari.

Our Union sucks. I am giving ND a chance, but if he doesnt get us an actual raise, and start advocating for the actual controller over those who are staying at home off the boards, im going to have to re-evaluate my financial support of this organization, and I know im not the only one.

Preaching to the choir. It will only be easier to leave if ND keeps spitting that nonsense about our median salaries. There are controllers making less than 100k while being stuck somewhere with no hope to transfer

Don’t forget about voting leave next month folks. You can also use it for early voting so you should be able to use it at some point with a little effort
Can a developmental be denied the 4 hours for voting leave? From my understanding voting leave is approved based on staffing and workload. However devs do not count toward staffing so how can they affect workload? Also is meeting the hours for NTI a valid excuse for denial?

They can and they have. Should they? No. It’s pretty clear in the MOU for those who aren’t retarded.

There is a toooooooooon of push back from ATMs and districts. It is clear. The managers are retarded.

Two big issues with the MOU is the lack of a deadline to approve the leave like in the spot leave part of the contract, and the part that says only the amount of time it takes to vote should be approved.
