What really baffles me is why NATCA National seemingly refuses to call out the inequity with the holiday early releases. Much less fight for a resolution. If the Secretary approves a 3 hour early release for 10 federal holidays, that’s THIRTY hours of leave/EA/OT that the air traffic control workforce is just being completely fucked out of every year. That’s not insignificant at all. Then given the near universal frustration with our pay, this is just another slap in the face.
It’s pretty clear the intent with this EA is for the entire DOT workforce to receive it whenever possible. Management saying we don’t even qualify to put in a request for it is fucking insane. This goes above the FAA and I would think if NATCA actually fought it they could pretty easily get something for us. At the very least, 3 credit hours. But they’re too busy wining and dining and talking about how great the fatigue memo is.
