It's Over (Finally)

Can a developmental be denied the 4 hours for voting leave? From my understanding voting leave is approved based on staffing and workload. However devs do not count toward staffing so how can they affect workload? Also is meeting the hours for NTI a valid excuse for denial?
I got Change of Station denied due to staffing and workload even though that language isn't in the contract. I dont think thy give a shit about the contract.

Change of station is not staffing and workload permitting. I pushed back when they denied me and it went up to my RVP and then management had to approve my leave a day before. I took all 8 days. Had to backfill with OT.

Please tell me you fought that.
Tried brother. Hilariously, the ATM was out for the weekend and the sups called him. He basically said "Im on vacay yall figure it out and call LR if you need to." LR gave the advice that its staffing and workload permitting based on other cases which has some precedent. Sup denied it on a friday. RVP had me submit some paperwork but it was a Saturday and nothing changed before my shift on Sunday. I'm going to do it again and ask for it to be addressed earlier so that there's more time to fight it.

The government spends money on what they want to spend money on.

Let this sink in: they could pay every single air traffic controller a $1,000,000 salary, which would equate to about $14 billion annually. and That $14 billion would equate to just 0.2% of the total annual federal budget. Literally a drop in the bucket compared to other ridiculous shit we throw money away on.

For the record I’m not saying we should all be making $1 million, but a realistic 20-30% pay raise for us would be nothing. If only we had a union that WOULD JUST FUCKING ASK FOR IT.

If it’s just a simple ask to get it done, I’m sure Daniel’s can do that

And we gave away over $60 billion to other countries in 2023. We shouldn't ask, we should demand.

The flip side is, FAA is going to ask us to take a pay cut when we go to the table. If Trump wins, pay is about the only thing we will be able to negotiate anyways.

They could give us a massive raise by just adding a small ATC fee to travel. They already have a TSA fee.

Or they could add it to fuel taxes with people like private jets.

I actually think this is a great idea. I HATE the idea of a ATC usage tax a la Europe.

The devils advocate says all that would happen is the money they previously spend on us out of the Aviation Trust fund gets redirected into something like infrastructure.

Yeah I never understood why the public has to subsidize TSA, which is more security theatre than anything, but ATC which is way more critical is a completely free service.

Anybody want to write a bill to add a dollar or two per ticket? Splitting it across the ATO would about cover our raises.

Then next time your congressperson shows up, just get down on your knees and give them a copy.

We should also get a lot of funding for working the military. Not sure how you’d quantify that

From Santa’s email:

“If I can still do the job, I’d like to certify on some sectors and proudly retire as an active air traffic controller with currency. If I no longer have the skills, or am a burden on the facility, I will gracefully retire. “

They handing out sup checkouts? Some sectors but not the area?

Santa’s gonna have no problem getting fully certified if he wants to

Surprised he doesn’t have a job lined up at “RiNaLdI CoNsUlTiNg” already.

On another note, has anyone heard anything from Nick Daniels since the election? Doesn’t his term start in like 3 days? The dude was spam-blasting every BUE for over a year and then as soon as he wins, he ghosts everybody. Even Mick sent out a nice thank you message after the election saying he’s ready to fight for pay, benefits and working conditions. Where is the president-elect??
