Will NATCA and the FAA extend the contract?

That’s a unanimous opinion. No one’s ever argued against that extension being a mistake in hindsight. And the timeline was indefensible even in the moment.
You didn’t address my post at all.
You’ve been on the ‘fuck around and find out’ crew all year. You and your brainless comment section army have been full bore ‘renegotiate regardless of EOs’. But now all the sudden you’re worried about our benefits?
You’re also so bubblized you actually thought Trump was gonna lose.
People thought the extension was dumb the second it was announced. You thinking that I have any power or have lead any sort of comment section is crazy. But yah you can’t just kick it down the road till the end of time. I did think trump was gonna lose. I lost like 1400 on Kalshi 😬. Any other questions?

Didn’t you just say the other day you were looking into cbp? If it’s that bad why continue to do it or move to another federal position?

Also pictured you doing this at the thought of yourself being a federal employee.

My other career choice was law enforcement. Had a job offer for Arizona highway patrol. Turned it down because I thought ATC was better for my family. Irony is this job ruined my family. And I kinda lost my family. Got divorced. CBP is the closer thing to that and that I’d like. I’m too invested in FERS and my TSP to just leave.

For instance I whole heartedly think that we need to make the public a bit more aware of our job and challenges.
Got you fam

Based on a true story.

You're conflating two things.

One: there is government waste and inefficiency.

Two: this department is a reasonable solution to this problem.

Most people will agree to one, but two doesn't make a lot of sense. There is already a department that does what DOGE is tasked to do. Which means that we will have a redundant department of efficiency. And that redundant department of efficiency will have two (billionaire) heads. Why would a billionaire take a government salary (pennies to them) so that they can run a department like this? Well, a billionaire whose primary wealth is tied up in businesses that rely on government subsidies and government action to control the market in which it operates would see this as a great tool to help influence decisions that impact their business. If you can't infer, I am talking about Elon Musk.

Elon Musk has companies which are facing lawsuits for illegal union busting behavior, and not complying with appropriate overtime pay and not giving legally required breaks. His idea of efficiency is making the laborers work harder. When the entire air traffic labor force is shouting that we work TOO MUCH now, this runs absolutely counter to his ethos of more hours and more output per hour. If his thinking is applied in aviation, where we work with contingencies and checklists to ensure multiple layers of safety: we will see accidents that can be directly attributed to these policies. Not to mention a much LOWER standard of living and working for Air Traffic controllers who stay with the career field because we will again be expected to do more with less.

You can complain about staff support specialists, but do you also want to be responsible for deciphering every relevant change in the 7110 and briefing the staff in a meaningful way? Do you want to run through the overtime roster while youre working 4 sectors combined during a thunderstorm? Do you want to be responsible for ensuring that the staff is briefed on fire evacuation procedures at the appropriate intervals? And do you want the government to be able to fire you when you "underperform" any of these job duties? All of the job duties these support jobs perform will just be thrust upon the line controllers and we will not get paid more for it. They are here to cut costs period.
My bet is the next FAA administrator is someone closely aligned with that turd.💩

Everything in this paragraph was definitely natcas fault.
You shoulda been a cop they never get divorced…

I'm wondering if they won't just let the contract expire as is and then contract (privatize) us out. The extension expires in two years? That's long enough for them to form a plan to spin ATC off. Since there won't be a contract, they're at will.

But in all seriousness, I think the neb needs to invite them for a tour somewhere.

(ii)Appointment of arbitration board.—
The Executive Director of the Panel shall provide for the appointment of the 3 members of a private arbitration board under clause (i) by requesting the Director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service to prepare a list of not less than 15 names of arbitrators with Federal sector experience and by providing the list to the parties. Not later than 10 days after receiving the list, the parties shall each select one person from the list. The 2 arbitrators selected by the parties shall then select a third person from the list not later than 7 days after being selected. If either of the parties fails to select a person or if the 2 arbitrators are unable to agree on the third person in 7 days, the parties shall make the selection by alternately striking names on the list until one arbitrator remains.

Currently the COO is the acting director, appointed by Biden, but there is no actual director.
If Trump is able to push one of his cronies through the Senate as director, all the director has to do is submit a list of 15 bullshit arbitrators who will fuck us over in whatever way he/the Heritage Foundation/Elon want, and even though we get to "pick" one of them, if they're all pieces of shit, it won't matter who we pick. I'm sure heritage has a long list of way more than 15 right wing nutjobs ready to do whatever they're told.

What if they go after the gov beurocracy

You mean not just be openly hostile? Actually try to get us some good PR with them and show them what we do, explain the challenges, and stress the staffing issues ect...

Like maybe at the same time trying to turn the publics mind of us in a positive way. Fight the bad news stories we keep seeing (I'm looking at you AUS)

Does anyone know where we rank in usage of OT among the other agencies? I would think we would be near the top but maybe not with some of the LEA. If I was put in charge of trimming the govt one of the first things I would do is stop OT. In the long run I think it would benefit us but short term it would be rough.

Would be fine, traffic would just slow the fuck down lol. Sorry I don’t feel safe working 30 planes on different frequencies with a trainee d side, I’ll start shutting people off.

Don't worry, they will stop paying OT for sure. Don't plan on working less hours though.

OT is cheaper than paying another CPC by a large margin if you count benefits leave etc etc into it. The government financially benefits by keeping us short staffed

I understand why they do it but it still costs a lot more than letting us work understaffed. If you’re “saving money” you’ll say make it work with what you have. They will probably bring it back when they realize how understaffed we are but still a possibility.
