Hiring Bid Experienced bid: FAA-ATO-17-ATCEXP-52850

I finally got my medical clearance. Woot. She told me I was cleared Mar 7 and my name has been with ATO since. She also said that the lists should be coming the beginning of April. Feels good to be that one step closer.

On a side note, I swear I called before Mar 7 and got a negative reply. I think the other HR chick was trolling me. Haha.

Good day lads. See you again in April!
How long did it actually take to get your medical clearance? I'm still waiting on mine.

I finished my last appt on Dec 4th or 5th. Cleared on Mar7th, so right at 3 months. I didn't have any extenuating circumstances or additional paperwork either.

Adding my two cents to the "why no lists until April" conversation.

1. The FAA may not have a budget. The current funding bill for the government expires 23 March. If an extension or omnibus is not passed before midnight that date, then there is no money to hire. And the FAA will not bring anyone on prior to 23 March to then turn around and furlough them.

2. The FAA authorization bill expires this month. If an extension is not passed prior to 1 April, then the FAA and its programs will no longer be "authorized" by Congress.

Executive agencies of the federal government require two bills be passed by Congress - an authorization bill (usually in 3 to 7-year increments, except DoD) and an appropriations bill (usually in one-year increments). The FAA is in dire need of requiring passage of both bills, or an extension to both bills.

Gentlemen,
I would read all previous threads, however, that would take too long. You are talking about a list? Did you get a TOL? Mine is still in referred status.. do I still have a shot?
Thanks!

There’s two other bids out, you should apply to them. Most of us on this thread got TOL’s before the new year.

Yes, I have applied to both, working for Midwest now getting my CIC and WX observer certifications.
I have one more question.. I have noticed that the academy track takes approximately 1yr from Applicantion to facility.. you guys have been waiting for what I assume is the government budget.. but what is the normal timeline from TOL to facility for prior experience hires

Timelines vary depending on different factors. I applied sept 16 and reported to my facility june 17, with the option of starting a month prior to that if I wanted. The only real hiccup I had was a couple month stint where the ATO had me in a hold status and HR had no idea why. If you fail the initial mmpi, it’ll typically add 6+ months to your wait. Medical clearances seem to vary widely and cause the longest wait times besides an mmpi failure.

Self imposed hurdle #1 cleared today. Reauth was passed on Wednesday. Everyone get those FOLs signed before October!

Got my list. Curious as to how asking for a new one works. I see some potential but really wanted to be close to family in Florida and my list has none in that state.

Got 26 as well. Probably the same list as yours. Where are you thinking about going? This list includes nothing I'd like to move my family to but we'll make a decision and rank things tonight. Congrats everyone.
